where in central pa are you getting married?? i've done most of my planning by myself sans help from anyone and yes at times very stressful.  I'd be happy to make some recommendations.  Also, check out weddingwire.com they provide ratings on vendors to help ease your mind about who you are choosing. Let me know what you need!

I can recommend my vendors for you.  The post is below.

Photographer- Solas Photography, www.solasphotography.com, e-mail: solasphoto@gmail.com and they are also on Facebook.   I start with them because they were amazing to work with, and I can’t suggest them enough!  Heidi and Sean Crager are a husband and wife team, and they do amazing work!  It was great that there were two of them, because she could be with the girls taking pictures, while he’s with the guys.  Photographers usually run 3,000-5,000 dollars, and they are more like 1,000.  You really can’t beat the deal.  They are worth way more than that!  They got every picture that I even thought about getting, and then some!

DJ- Adam McCallister of Birdsnest Productions.  He is on facebook, his e-mail is radioadam@live.com I have had SO many guests talk about how great our DJ was.  He again, is extremely affordable, and he’s also very well known.  He does a morning talking show about sports on 1350 AM, and he’s the Revolution announcer between innings.  All we had to do was give Adam our special songs, and tell him the type of music that we like, and it was all taken care of!  I didn’t have to think about what songs he would play or not, and he kept the party going!  I’d highly recommend him!

Videographer- This was something that I absolutely wanted, even though Jason didn’t.  Everyone always says that your day goes by so fast (which it does) so I wanted to get a video of it to watch whenever we wanted.  The first girl I came across that I loved was Natalie Fava of Birdhouse Productions.  She is also on facebook.  I LOVED her work, and the type of videography that she did.  She was booked on my date, but she found me someone who does the same type of work as her, who was Taylor Courtney.  He was amazing.  He did not intrude while videoing and he was like “in the background” the whole time.  Now that I have my video back, I can honestly say that I would NOT use Taylor Courtney Films, but I would definitely use Natalie at Birdhouse!

Florist- Karens on Country Road.  Her e-mail is kgrove1768@comcast.net  Flowers are not something that I am big on.  Sure, I think they look very pretty, but I know nothing about specific flowers.  I was able to go to Karen and tell her the colors that I wanted, and she picked the types of flowers that would look great together.  Flowers are very expensive for weddings, but I gave her my budget, and she was able to fit into it.  She delivered the flowers the day of, and they were there with two hours to spare.  She was very timely and they looked great!  Lots of guests commented on how beautiful they were.

Cake- Providence Divine Cakes.  Providence is great.  We really liked meeting with her to discuss what we wanted in a wedding cake.  We ended up getting three different tiers with three different flavors.  The cake itself was AMAZING!  She’s a little pricey, but it’s well worth the taste of the cake!!  If you do use her, please make sure you read your contract carefully.  There are things like you must return like the cake board or else you’re charged $50.

Photobooth- Katy Trefry Photography.  www.katytrefryphotography.com  If you can squeeze it into the budget, this photobooth was awesome!!  When we first got engaged, we took pictures in the photobooth, so we knew we had to do this!!  It was awesome, and guests LOVED it.  They end up with two copies of the pictures.  One for them to keep, one to put in our guestbook and sign.  It was a great thing to do during the cocktail hour to keep them entertained.  This was definitely a unique part of the wedding that people are STILL talking about!  Katy even sends someone with the photobooth to man the station and tell people what to do.  Katy is a great photographer as well, but she’s more on the very pricey side.

I would start by getting the main things taken care of first: ceremony location, reception venue (will you need a caterer or cake baker?), florist, band/DJ, photographer and go from there! Everything will fall into place once you have the main things done!

I would also try to relax and enjoy the process...you've got plenty of time if you're getting married in August next year. I got engaged in April (this year and getting married in Dec) and have done all the planning myself (with input from FI of course) and so far so good! But I would look for the reception spot close to your church next, you'll need to know what you've got to work with before picking everything else...

On a side note, I'm using Solas Photography too! After the wedding I'll be able to give a better review but we really liked their work, their price is great and we felt like we really "clicked" with them when we met them.

I recently did a tasting with Legends Catering in Wrightsville/york area, Jesse is awesome and has very reasonable prices, not to mention delicious food!  Depending what your budget is, we are using DJ FREEZ, very talented, but is on the high end of pricing, as far as florist goes, I am using Costco in Lancaster, Kathy is super nice and very reasonably priced. Look on here at venues in the york/hanover area for receptions, they have lots to choose from in al different price ranges, part of the fun is visiting them :)  if you want a planner I am using stephanie Engle's Designing Memories, if you want her info let me know! she's super nice and has very reasonable prices.

Take a deep breath! It is overwhelming especially when you need to book vendors. What vendors do you need to book? Once you have those booked, you will be good to go to concentrate on the fun details of decor and what not.

If you need vendors. Make a list of 3 (in each catagory)...with their pros/cons about their wedding packages. Visit with the one that you like the best and book them! You have time to do your research. I would suggest a timeline (lots online, I think the knot has one) to help you with your goals. Like have all your vendors booked by the Christmas holidays.
Hey you have the dress and the church! You have the big stuff done. Don't stress..some people get engaged the same year as they get married. You're timing is fine, you will get stuff done!

As far as your sister goes, my MOH is kind of like that too. Don't rely on them to help you. They will just show up with their dress and hair done. Your parents are the best people to get wedding support.  You don't have to worry about finding a MOH/BM dresses until closer to the time. That is one detail that you can push back.

Everyone on here can help you if you need vendor suggestions!

I'm getting married August 25, 2012 in Harrisburg. We have some things- reception site, etc, but still have some major things to plan. Every once in again I get small panic attacks but I know everything will work out- and it will work out for you too!!

If you are feeling stressed and you aren't getting support from your family, you might want to look into hiring a planner!  My sister used Leah from Weddings and Blooms to plan her Gettysburg wedding last year.  She was fantastic, and really pulled things together for my sister.  (my sister is a nurse and works night shift, so wedding planning was really hectic!)  I am using Weddings and Blooms for a Day of Coordination and flowers.  The website is www.weddingsandblooms.com

We are using Tiffany Lewis Photography and I am thinking about Mixed Up Productions for the DJ - I have heard lots of great things about them!

You wedding planning should be a fun experience for you and your fiance...try not to stress about it too much :)
