No Peonies this year?

Does anyone have peonies for their weddings?  A florist told me they were hard to come by this year because of poor growing conditions...

I wanted them but since I'm getting married in 2 weeks and they are out of season (which means, big money) I didn't end up looking at them.

You should consider Dahlias, they are equally full and pretty and come in tons of colours, thats what I did instead (for part of my bouquet)

I had them for my June wedding... although we didn't know until 3 days before the wedding if we could get them.   I'm pretty sure the season is over now, though, so even if any exist they'll be very pricey to order in.

btw... as an aside... as a contingency plan, my florist had suggested that we use fake peonies in my bouquet if they weren't available.  She showed me pictures of other bouquets she made that had a mix of real and fake.. and honestly you couldn't tell!  I would have considered this, even though I really really don't like fake flowers at weddings.

Good luck!  I love peonies for weddings :)

I'm not planning on using Peonies, because they're not in season in October, and didn't want to pay and arm/leg/first born for them!

BUT I do have a Peony bush, and we didn't get a SINGLE bloom this year, it was pretty upsetting!

They are easier to come by in May and June, as they usually have to be imported at any other time of year.
