Venue

I have been looking for a venue in Philadelphia or right over the bridge in Jersey.  Both our families live in Fishtown a neighborhood right outside center city.  A local venue that is really great for the price is Richmond Hall.  The only issue is that my sister had her reception there 2 years ago.  Or is this not an issue?   I do not know how I feel about sharing a venue, its just I cannot find anything that compares (or I just idealized her wedding so much). My parents are willing to pay 10K.  Right now we are thinking we can commit to 125 guests, but I can shorten the guest list to have a nicer place.  We are planning for Spring 2013.  The date is flexible at this point.

We already looked at the P&P caterers, which seems to be everyones response to cheap venues.  We also ruled Celebrations out since they do not offer buffet. Is there any diamonds in ruff out there that are affordable?

Re: Venue

  • I dont know if bensalem is to far from where you were thinking but check out La Luna. They are in bensalem but not far from the 95 exit. Thier prices were comparable with p&p. I think thier venue is a great place and had alot more to offer for the price then p&p from what I remember.
  • Our venue is the Downtown Courtyard Marriott in Center City. They have a lower price per head then most of the places we looked at and thats including outside of center city. We are paying $112 PP. and thats including tax+grat.  They do offer buffet, we didt want that option, im not really sure if its the same price as sit down, it usually isnt. The killer with a center city is the PARKING. We have valet and we are paying for all our guests..... We set aside $1200 just for parking , just to be safe. We also looked at Top Of The Tower and they were lower priced then the Marriott, and the view was AMAZING .I think their parking was free ? I cant remember. But thats def a place to see, it just wasnt right for us. Good Luck !

  • You might want to try Hilton Garden Inn. They are at 11th and Arch. They too have a view. The ballroom is on the 10th floor. They have sit down and buffet. The sit down is $90.00pp which includes service charge and tax. Then they have lower prices as well. Parking is $10.00 which is discounted. Let me know if you have any other questions....

  • Thanks ladies!  I will def be looking into these places.  Its going to be a busy month.
  • What about Front and Palmer? It's in Kensington/Fishtown area. Beautiful space inside with inhouse caterer.  We went to a tasting there last year and the food was really good.  We've actually changed our mind about our original venue choice and are in talks with F&P again.
  • If the Bensalem area isn't too far, I have been to Pen Ryn Mansion and Belle Voir Manor for weddings and they are both beautiful locations. I don't know about pricing but it can't hurt to call and find out. Good Luck
  • I'm checking out a few venues this coming Tuesday!:  Hilton Garden Inn, Double Tree Hotel, and Maggiano's.  As far as I know based on emails I've exchanged with these venues, I can have the ceremony and reception there, including tables, chairs, linen, tablewear, food, alcohol, and non-alcoholic beverages, staffing, tax, serivce charges, gratutity, etc. for about $5,000-6,000ish for 50 guests.  I will let you all know my impressions of those 3 venues!  I am also checking out Penn's Landing catering in South Philly on Friday, Jan. 27th!  :)
  • Thats awesome!  If you could let me know how it goes at all of those venues.  I heard the food at Penns landing is amazing.
