Wedding Woes

My co-irker...

Is telling the guy she sits next to about her annual gyno exam.  Who does that?

Also, she can't pronounce the word "portal".  She says "port-hole".
And she says "measuring", "may-sur-ing".

Gah...She's just annoying.  I wish I could move far away from her.

And now she's talking with her mouth full.  *v

where is she from? DK gets annoyed at how I pronounce "measuring" too. (with a long A).

My boss (yes, boss) does not know that there is a difference between the word "specific" and the word "pacific." And, my immediate supervisor spent his shift regaling us with stories of the last time he "kicked someone's ass." And I'm supposed to respect these people?!

She's from Chicago originally, but has lived here for over 20 years.  I'm originally from Chicago too.  No one there pronounces it "may-sur-ing".  She's just spay-shul.

My boss, who I love dearly, says "fustrated" instead of "fRustrated."

    Drives me batty.

Do you tell your male co-workers about your lady garden appointments?  If the answer is no, then you're all right.  :) No matter how you say 'measuring'.

When I first moved to Michigan when I was little, people there pronounced "groceries" like "grow-shreez."  I thought they were insane.

I still can't stand when people say "sherbert."  THERE IS NO SECOND R.  SHERBET.  I know that I am in the minority on this, and I don't care.

How else do you say "groceries"? Grow-ser-ees?

Also: I missed having a perfect score on a 6th grade spelling test because of sherbet. Everyone I knew said, "Sherbert". I assumed that was how it was spelled. I argued with the teacher for 10 minutes about it, because whereTF did that second R come from?

Yes, I'm still bitter about this, and the northern New England Law of Displaced Rs - Every R they take out of a word, they have to use in a word where it doesn't belong. For every "staat" and "hee-ah" you have "strawr" and "sherbert". Bitches.
