Where would you go

What's your first thought or place you'd want to go for your honeymoon if you had a budget around 2000 and 10 days? Preferably excluding cruises and resorts.

I'm desperately trying to get an idea of where we should go!! Our main interest is just being outside, along with staying in budget. Whether it be beach or mountains or sitting and eating at a cafe outside. Big or small city doesn't matter. We'll be honeymooning the last week of Sept.

Re: Where would you go

  • Probably Charleston because we could drive.

I'm confused - you've posted 3 different questions that are all sort of similar but also sort of not...

  • Haha yes similar but I was just wanting different opinions and thought different questions would appeal to different people. Did I mention I've had a hard time trying to figure out where we're going? I'm a little obvious....lol We've actually been to Charleston and LOVED it but were wanting to go somewhere we've never been for our honeymoon. Definitely a great option!! It's gorgeous there!

What about New Orleans?  Key West?  San Marco Island?
  • I think all of your questions are very vague so it is really hard to narrow down places to go. Also your budget is a little on the small side so it might be tight, especially for 10 days. A hotel or condo probably would probably take up at least half of that budget.

I think it honestly depends on what you and your husband want to do. Are you looking for relaxation or adventure or a little of both. The places you have talked about don't seem super touristy and so it will limit the amount of things to do in an area, especially if you are going to the same city for 10 days. If you are willing to fly you could try and do an open jaw flight and maybe go to multiple cities and rent a car or something. But that just adds to the expense and might not be in your budget.

  • We went to Charleston and had a great time. SInce you liked it there, how about one of the quieter beaches on down the coast? You could take day trips into town, visit some planations, or see some of Savannah.

Since you are in KY, I would recommend, if you haven't been, renting a cabin near the Red River Gorge or Cumberland Falls. They are absolutely stunning in September.

How about somewhere historic, like Williamsburg, VA?

I had a couple friends stay in a romantically remote B&B near Ashville for their honeymoon. They went and toured the Biltmore estate one day, but mostly hung out hiking trails and things.
