Food Tasting

Hi everyone!

Love these boards for the great advice - so thank you lots in advance!

With our wedding 6 months away - I was wondering - when do venues typically do their food tasting? FH and I booked The Imperia and are looking fwd to our day - but we have yet to schedule our tasting. From your experience - is 6 months out too early? What can we expect - have any of you done your tastings?

Re: Food Tasting

  • We did our food tasting at the Stone House about 6 weeks out.  There, they normally do them 2 months before the wedding.

  • We did ours about 5 months out.  I think it depends on the venue, for instance ours only does the tastings twice per month.  We tasted all of our passed hor's douevres, each of our three entree choices and our plated dessert.  The only thing we didn't taste was our salad and the cocktail hour stations, but I think that's typical.  Oh, and we tasted the wine!
  • We don't plan on doing our tasting until 3 months out.

  • The Graycliff actually does the tasting before you book so ours was 18 months out.  We went 3 months our to pick our final menu.

  • Thank you ladies for all your responses - appreciate it!

I called our venue and they are currently doing the tasting for June / July brides - that means we are next in line :)

FH parents live in another state & due to working on wknds i was hoping to be organized and give plenty of notice to everyone!

HobokenBride201...  i love that you got to do your tasting before booking - i wish all venues did that - then i wouldnt have to cook on the wknds ;) haha

Again - thank you so much - i love coming to these message boards for advice - so helpful!
