Tipping MUA?

For anyone who used Nicole Palermo (or anyone else really)... did you tip her on your wedding day in addition to the flat fee?  Luckily my hair stylist offers hair free to the bride as a gift (under the assumption she gets a nice tip).  So it just stupidly dawned on me... I need to tip Nicole, right?  How much???

I wouldn't say that you *need* to tip anyone.  It's more of a thank you than anything else.  I would tip her - and how much depends on how much you feel comfortable with.  Hypothetically - if she charges $100, I wouldn't bat an eye at tipping $30.  That's just me.

Just a word of advice - put all of your tips in envelopes a day or two ahead of time and label them.  This way, you don't have to deal with money the day of, and you can always give them to someone to give to your vendors...if you want.

I always tip about 20% and am planning on tipping my makeup artist along those lines as well...

There is a guideline that if a vendor is the only one/head of the company that they are getting the entirety of their fee (instead of turning it over to someone else) and that a tip is not necessary.  That being said, I feel like I would have wanted to tip a MUA if I had used one.
