Photo and Videographers

So this is my first post, and I'm hoping to get somewhere in my search for a photographer and videographer, so any help at all is GREATLY appreciated!

My wedding isn't until 6/1/13 but I'm trying to get all of the reserving out of my way. But I cannot seem to find a decent photog/video.  My budget is limitted, roughly $2800, and I really want both pics and video, but I just can't find anyone who's pictures don't look cheap.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know anyone who could work with me on this?

Thank you!!

Re: Photo and Videographers

  • A tip that could save you some money is to look at Philadelphia photographers.  My photog is and we are not paying any sales tax, since she is based in Philly and our wedding is in NJ.  So that is saving us a couple hundred dollars.  Any little bit helps!

We were sticker shocked at photographer prices as well.  But for us, we decided to re-arrange the budget some.  If you are interested, my photographer is Sarah Miller.  Her website is sarahmillerphotography.com.  We are getting 8 hrs of coverage, 2nd shooter, all pics on dvd, and online proofing.  Her price is $3200.
  • Is 2800 your budget for both or each?  You may have to choose one or the other....I would go and splurge on the photography vs. trying to get both and short changing yourself.
  • Jean and Steve Photography have a package with photo and video for $2995. We used them at our wedding and they were phenomenal.

  • We used Inger from keepsake photography and she did a great custom package for us under $2000.  We loved her and her work!  She recommends martin's video and his lowest package is $900, or there is Jack otepka who we used and i honestly wasnt too thrilled with but you get what you pay for.  he was about $600 i think.

  • We're using Jean and Steve as well.  They are so nice and really worked with us on our budget....we're getting everything we wanted!

We also are using Martin's video.  I wasn't going to have a videographer but I knew I'd regret it if we didn't have it later.  He is offering us the cheapest price out of all the companies I researched and he was easy to work with.  He sent me highlights of weddings at my venue through email so I could make my decision from home and not have to make another appt. at an office.

All together we're spending about 3100 including tax, and that's including engagement pictures and save the dates.  Hope this helps!!! Best of luck to you!!!
