Mid September Honeymoon--- Cabos or Aruba?

Have you all heard about the ABC's in Carribean? Some say Aruba is out of the hurricane belt, but some say it's a myth! Thinking Cabo would be a safer bet from rain, but not positive.

We are looking at the Cabos Dreams resort, and the Aruba Sandals resort. Has anyone been to either?

Can anyone recommend Cabos or Aruba?
We're looking for a combo of relaxation and fun activity, which both offer.

Thanks much :)

  • Are you planning around the Rain or the Hurricanes?

  • Both I suppose! I know there is always chance of rain but trying to avoid.
  • We wanted to go to St. Lucia but can't get a flight on United...and definitely plan to fly united and use our points!

Really liked idea of any of those ABCs or Cabo ....
  • OP just an fyi, there are no Sandals in Aruba, they are in Antigua,Jamaica,Bahamas and St. Lucia.

That being said, don't worry  so much about rain or hurrican season, just get trip insurance. Instead, focus on what you want out of your hm. You can not  predict the weather. We've been to Key West 3 years in a row,2years were perfect this last year it rained the wole week, all 3 years were in June*beginning of hurricane season*. We've also been to St. Lucia and Jamaica in June and both were perfect weather the whole time (aside from the normal tropical climate rain shower ever day).

  • People tend to think that Hurricane Season means Rainy Season in Mexico/The Caribbean. Not true though, it still does not rain very often except maybe a short shower once a day. You have a slightly higher chance of rain but it isn't usual.

What is your budget and what are you specifically looking for on your honeymoon? We usually tell brides to plan a honeymoon they want and not to worry about hurricanes or rain, must make sure you book travel insurance. Which is important for any trip, not just to the Caribbean.

  • ditto dazy and FWIW Cabo also gets hit by hurricanes in Sept! Recommend what other pps said about just getting trip insurance.

  • i wasn't a fan of aruba at all. it was so vanilla-absolutely no island vibe-kind of like florida. the beaches were nice but past that not much.  go to curacao instead and enjoy the different island feel and culture.

it's rare that aruba is hit by a hurricane but it's happened. google it. it's just more rare than the balance of the caribbean.

you do know that the west coast of mexico's hurricane season goes until oct 15 right?

  • I am currently trying to decide between Aruba and Cabo myself! Something to keep in mind about Cabo, lots of beaches are closed in August and Sept because of very strong rip currents. So If you plan on doing a lot of swimming make sure your resort has a nice pool.
