Unique venue ideas

I am just starting the planning process and am looking for some unique venue ideas.  I was thinking something cool but personal, like a mansion or old house, etc.  I am guessing we'll have around 150 people - any ideas?  We are getting married in Cleveland Hts. if that helps.

On another note, what do you do to get started?  This whole process seems a bit overwhelming and daunting right now...thanks!

    Hey!

    I reccomend Manakiki Ballroom in Willoughby Hills. The facility is an old historic mansion and I loved having my wedding there! Check out my vendor reviews a few posts down or more info!

    In terms of planning, I found it easiest to take things one step at a time, one vendor at a time. My first planning steps with my husband were figuring out budget and rough guest list with our parents. From there we worked on venue, DOC, photographer etc... You can look at a checklist from the knot or Martha Stewart weddings if you want. I never found those very helpful, but it may be helpful to you!

    We decided on our ceremony site and reception venue first. After that's all set, you can work through the other vendors you need one at a time. I started out using the Knot checklist just for ideas, then kinda made up my own list. It helped keep us organized.

    As for venues, Mooreland Mansion in Kirtland is great for small weddings. Maybe check them out? Also, Nicholson House in Lakewood looks nice. Not sure offhand what their max. guest list would be though.

    As for unique, you may also want to consider the Cleveland zoo, Botanical Gardens, House of Blues, Spaces art gallery downtown, or perhaps an area winery. Good luck!

    The Nicholson House holds up to 140 guests.  The Western Reserve Historical Society is something to look into as well. If you have the budget the Glidden House is beautiful but only holds 130.  There is Punderson Manor but that would be a bit of a drive. 
    The other ladies are right. Take it one thing at a time and work through it. It's easier and less stressful that way.  Working out the number of guests and budget I think has been the hardest part so far but start with the checklists as a guideline and make a system that works for you.

    I am getting married at Pine Ridge Country Club -- its fantastic.  it has beautiful wrought iron balconies and is very very unusual for a country club.  highly recommend!

    When I looked in Cleveland Heights two,  places I considered were The Glidden House  (150 may be a few too many people) or Park Lane Villa www.parklanevilla.com/ballroomSplash.asp">

    Park Lane Villa is beautilful and close to you, but I've been to a wedding at the cleveland rainforest and it was awesome! For cocktail hour all your guests get to eat and drink as they walk through the rainforest.
