Chicago Hotels for Ceremony and Reception

I am starting to the venue shopping process and I was wondering what kind of feedback I can get for the many hotels in downtown/loop/rivernorth/goldcoast etc.

I have looked into the Westin on Mich Ave and Rivernorth, The James, the W Lakeshore, Park Hyatt, etc.

Thanks!

We're having our reception at the Embassy Suites Lakefront (2 blocks from Navy Pier) on Columbus and Illinois. They just did a 12 million dollar renovation in March of 2008 so it looks really modern. We're not having our ceremony there but I know that they can do both.

I should also mention that this was one of the most inexpensive hotel venues in downtown.

We booked the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza (the Holiday Inn connected to the Merchandise Mart).  The price was very reasonable compared to other Chicago venues and the view of the city is beautiful.  Also, the wedding coordinator is fantastic.  She's very classy and down-to-earth and will help you anyway she can.

I pretty much looked at almost every hotel through out the city of Chicago. We are having our recpetion at The Sofitel ( goldcoast) and they have been amazing to work with. I would def go and talk to them. GOod luck!

Hotel Allegro and monaco were great.

I'd also check out the Ivy room at tree studios-it's not a hotel, but it's a GREAT venue. GL!

We booked the Marriott downtown, but the Allegro was a close second. Loved the Wit but couldn't get over the giant snowflake carpeting...

We had our ceremony and reception at the Blackstone Hotel on South Michigan Ave.  It was gorgeous and the food and service was outstanding.

I'll second the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. We had our wedding there in September and it was awesome. Everyone loved it. We didn't want for anything!
We only held our reception there, but they do ceremonies as well.
And Barbara is really fantastic to work with.

We also looked at most of the hotels downtown and decided on the Trump.  It has the most amazing views of the city and we couldnt be more excited.  We looked at the Park Hyatt bc we loved the location but its a basement balllroom, NOMI is really expensive to rent out.  My friends sister got married at the Westin on mich Ave and they were very pleased.  Good luck!
