acne

I have cleared up my facial acne with mary kay products but i have bad back acne and i don't belive mary kay has a acne body wash or anything. ANy suggestions what i can do to clear up back acne? What about the proactiv body wash..anyone use this with success?

Re: acne

  • My dermatologist recommended Neutrogena's oil-free acne wash (the orage kind) and gave me a prescription for some cream to put on any acne affected areas.  It has worked very well thus far.  Maybe talk to a dermatologist just to get an expert opinion.

  • I haven't tried the Proactive body wash, but I do use the Proactive 3-step face wash (it works pretty good). I agree with PP.  Talk to a Dermatologist.

  • Dermatologist can prescribe something like doxycyline (an oral antibiotic) that can clear up acne everywhere
  • Getting a derm to prescribe you some antibiotics is the best idea, however, if that is not possible:
Neutrogena body wash is really great. And also, (derms, plug your ears) I read in a magazine a while back about a woman using a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alchohol to get rid of acne on her chest and back, I use the method sometimes in the summer and it works really well for me.

  • If you don't already, I would go see a dermatologist. I had problems with facial acne but it has all cleared up right in time for my wedding. I went to see my dermatologist about 6 months out from my wedding. He put me on Doxycycline (the oral antibiotic) and Aczone (a topical cream). The two of them together worked very well! The only thing I don't like about the Doxycycline is if you don't drink it with enough water (like a full glass) it gives you heartburn and with this particular pill you can't take any antacids. Overall, I'm very happy with the prescriptions. Best of luck!

I have really sensitive skin and products like Proactiv make me break out worse because they irriitate my skin.  I've had really good luck with Cetaphil bar soap to wash my back with and it's cleared mine up beautifully. Cetaphil works well on my face, but the kind in the pump is really hard to make work on your back since it doesn't really lather, the bar soap fixed that problem for me.

    HTH!

  • Neutorgena body wash & they also have a body spray (just came out a few months ago... think they sell it at Target or Ulta)
  • Neutrogene body wash didn't work for me, but Murad worked amazingly. And it wasn't as drying.
  • i think i have waited too long to try to fix this problem since my wedding is april 28. im using the neutrogena acne bodywash and it hasnt done anything. i am going to a dermotologist next week so we will see.

<div>I've totally done this too.  Tea Tree Oil works well too and I think it is a little less drying than rubbing alcohol.  Smells better too.  Definitely works for a big stubborn pimple that you want to make go away or at least easier to cover with make-up.</div>

  • PSA for anyone on doxycicline, try eating some bread before taking the pill and it helps with the heartburn considerably!  Then drink all of the water on the planet.

Is the tea tree oil drying? I've never tried it or the alcohol.
