Plus ones

How many friends who are coming are you letting bring someone with them as a date? I was thinking I'd only give a plus one in the invitation if they are in a serious relationship with someone. I think a wedding is a situation where everybody is pleasant enough to talk to everybody and I would seat them with people of their own age if they came alone. How are you guys handling this?

We are just doing plus one to people that we know their SO. I don't want a bunch of random people there and I have "groups" of friends coming so if they don't have a date they have people they know and hang out with so they won't be lonely.

Since we are "older" we only have a few people that fall into this category, so we are letting them bring a guest. All of our friends know each other, but I would hate for the people without significant others to feel even worse when they are at a wedding and surrounded by other couples.

I'm with raangoli here. We only have maybe 5 or 6 unmarried/unattached guests (three teenage relatives and a couple friends), so we're allowing them each a plus one.

Hey Sonali...I did exactly what you did...only put a + 1 for someone if I knew they were in a serious relationship or in a relationship.

I actually had a friend ask if she can bring a friend :S At first she said ...can I bring a guest and I felt terrible b/c I didn't know she was seeing someone...but then she told me it was a female friend of hers....I felt bad saying anything other than sure :S

It was a little awkward...but I'm of the opinion that + 1 is reserved SO/spouse/partner

    Hey Sonali

I dont know FI's side (friends) so I left the option open for them since I have no idea who is in relationship and who is not, but for my side I know who all is coming.
