Monday QOTD

Are you a last minute planner for your wedding or is your checklist checked off every second ?

Having a hard time with getting stuff done right now ... I kinda know what I need to get done but I'm lacking a "vision " for my centerpieces... I have a vision but nothing solid and I feel like I'm wasting time on the internet trying to find out ... And I refuse to start using Pintrest.... LOL

Re: Monday QOTD

  • Everything is done. 8 days away, and the only thing I have to do is pack for my vacation and make room for our BIGGER bed!
    :)

I had everything planned way in advance but that left PLENTY of time to change. And it has.

  • We are having a 2.5 year engagement. I'm still two years away and I'm already meticulously planning. I'm in the gathering info stage.

I was a looooooong term planner (we were engaged for 16 months) but a last minute checker.  I was addressing invitations the night before they NEEDED to go out, still putting together the reception playlist the week of the wedding.  Most of that was due to graduation being one month before the wedding, and DH was out of state until 2 days before the wedding so he wasn't able to help get the details figured out.  Thankfully, my mom and grandmother were very helpful.

Me and Cassie and in the same boat...and month :) hehe

I have to have a game plan or I go crazy. I get irritable if I don't know what's going on. It actually makes me nervous.

I'm still trying to figure out which route I want to take: Formal or causal. I have a vision for both. I love my rustic theme but I just can't decide how I will be able to play it out. I think the venue we had booked prior to the year change would have went well with the rustic theme. But it had restrictions that prevented a lot of my ideas from happening. Since then we have decided to have it on my parents land with allows me to do whatever I want. So I think we will probably change themes which screws up my plan completely...

ETA: GNR, why do you refuse to use Pinterest? It's amazing lol. I have gotten so many great ideas from it.

  • Definitely not last minute.  I got my dress a year and 9 months before the wedding!  Long engagement....  If it wasn't done by that last week, I'd decided that whatever it was just wasn't going to happen.  I hate doing things at the last-minute.

  • We were only engaged for about 7 months, so there wasn't a whole lot of long term planning going on :P  Most of the stuff was pretty much done ahead of time. Besides the escort cards and the programs. I worked on those the entire week before the wedding. I don't think I was up the night before working on them, but I did put HOURS into them every single night that week.

I had many checklists and Excel spreadsheets and to-do lists, both his and hers to-do lists.  I was very organized!  Not much was left to the last minute, just our speeches really.

Re: the vision for centerpieces - I spent hours and hours online looking up centerpieces.  I stressed, I went to the dollar store, I considered getting my mom to grow live plants or have my dad build various different things.  Then I realized I couldn't remember any of the centerpieces from recent weddings I'd been to and that they really aren't worth spending much time on.  I ended up giving my florist a budget of $25 per centerpiece including a vase and let her go to town with fresh flowers, they looked great.  So my answer is - don't stress about a vision or a theme!  Just pick something you like and run with it.  You won't have centerpiece regrets post-wedding, I promise.
  • I am a total planner, so I was pretty on top of things.  Not to mention I had to take advantage of breaks and things, so being organized was a must.  H actually did quite a bit of the planning while I spent 3 weeks in Europe, too.
  • I am an unorganized planner. We had a decent length engagement at just over 10months. Things got done but a lot was last minute. In fact, I added a bridesmaid 4months before the wedding!
