Attendant dress quandry

My daughters (14 & 18) will be walking me down the aisle.  We have been struggling on dresses lengths for them.  My 18yo looks stunning in a long dress.  She's tall and very slim and she's very self conscience about her "chicken legs"  My 14 yo is a bit thicker, and looks age appropriate in a cocktail length dress.

My oldest will graduate from HS this year, and could possibly use her long dress twice - once for prom and once for the wedding, and could use a short cocktail dress anytime.  My youngest will never have another chance to use a long dress, and they make her look so old.  Plus, we found a short dress that she loves, and it perfect for her. 

The BM dresses are all cocktail length, so I'm the only one that would be in a long gown.  So...do I have my oldest wear a short dress, along with my youngest, or have my youngest wear a long dress, along with my oldest (with all other BMs wearing short dresses)?  Would it look off if one was short and one was long (I think yes, but I'm open for opinions)?

I'm running out of time if I have to order something for them.

    What about having different lengths, each daughter in the length that is most flattering to her?  I think that would be great!!

    And thanks for reminding me of prom season ... I have to get out and buy my son's tux.  Where is that tax refund? LOL!

    I think whatever they look good in and are comfortable in.  I agree about long dresses making young girls look older than they are.  What about tea length?

    ITA with the prior posters.............weddings don't have to be "matchy-matchy" anymore. You can have long & short together and not apologize to anyone for the choices!

    My 16 y/o daughter is my MOH, and probably built like your younger daughter. This is her dress, a Maggy London we got at Lord & Taylor. It hits all the right notes on her body and made her feel gorgeous when she tried it on (in a size 14).  


    I've told my other 3 BM to get dresses in black that they will wear again, and feel comfortable in for an August wedding.

    Thank you all!!  I really wanted them each to wear what they wanted, but I didn't think it would look right.  So much of these wedding decisions have been following my mantra of, "thanks, but I'd rather do it this way", so I don't know why I was stuck with this one.

    Some dresses even come in different lengths - long-tea-cocktail - you could get the "same" dress for the girls in different lengths this way too.

    But I agree they don't have to match - just let them be beautiful! 

    And now I am reminded that I have to get my own daughters something to wear... back to shopping!

    I would let them get the length that they feel is best for them. Check out the Pretty Maids line. You can get any dress in any length. Really it is kind of like building a dress. My FI three daughters are Jr. BM's and they were even able to make them in the smaller children's sizes. They were so flexible. I wish they were around years ago.
