Timeline Question - When to dress tables?

I asked this on outdoor weddings too but that board is slow and my wedding is on Friday! Eep!

I'm trying to finalize my wedding timeline and realized I'm not sure when to dress the tables. The tables need paper linen tablecloths, white butcher paper ontop of that, clips to hold those two down, vases with flowers, mason jars with candles, and mason jars with crayons.

We are having our ceremony begin at 6:30PM, guests arrive at 6PM. Groomsmen and family are flipping the chairs. If we put out the roses at like 5PM, do you think they will hold up until dinner at 7:45PM? Or should we keep those in the fridge until the cocktail hour is winding down?

Re: Timeline Question - When to dress tables?

  • Yes, if you put out the flowers at 5pm they should hold up until Dinner without an issue.  Unless you are having some ultra delicate flower you should be fine.

The timeline on when to dress the tables really depends on who is doing it.  If you have to do it, get it out of the way earlier that way you can focus on getting ready and relaxing.

  • I agree with PPs, the flowers should be fine.

your roses should be totally fine to put out at 5 (if not earlier).. We're doing most of our set up the night before the wedding and our florist is guaranteeing that our flowers will be okay in water overnight (which makes sense, but good quality flowers dont die in 2 hours anyways! :))

As for timeline, if the weather is okay I think you'd be alright to set that stuff up earlier in the day before you guys start getting ready? Is your wedding somewhere private you won't have to worry about people tampering with your decor?

  • No, it's fairly private, but I was worried about the heat. The high is 92F that day (will be about 3PM) and while the roses will have water, I was concerned with them keeling over.

    Thanks ladies!
