Pre-wedding Parties

on high alert!

I know my bridal party is throwing me a surprise shower and a surprise bachelorette, but I don't know when they are. There's a possibility that there's one this weekend (my MOH made plans with me to do something, which raised my suspicions, but then she cancelled?... a friend slipped and said "see you at your bachelorette!"...), but who knows.

Basically, my question is... how do I dress for this? I'm possibly going to lunch with my fiance and then hanging out with his sister and her young daughters....or not...?

I don't know. I'm just going to feel like a doofus if I get all dolled up. Maybe I should just start carrying around an emergency set of cute clothes. How did everyone else handle this?

(and so you know... I'm not a control freak... I just definitely tend toward the anxious side of things...)

What is the weather like this weekend?  What about a super cute skirt with some fun tights and a cute top with cardigan sweater and funky chain necklace?  I think I just dressed you, lol.  That way the cardigan is appropriate for the day and then IF the B party is Sat night, then you can take off the sweater for a more of a "night out" look OR just bring an extra top that has some sparkles and what not but still matches the skirt/tights combo.

I dont know your fashion style so that was off the top of my head.

Haha, I'd be anxious too.  Do you have a cute little dress you can wear, that can be casual or a bit more dressy?

Weather: High of 40, low of 24. They call this "spring"?

    GREAT ideas so far!

I went shopping with my MOH last weekend and bought this outfit... I had wanted to wear it to my shower or maybe a different top for the bachelorette... but now I'm afraid I'll be wearing it every weekend. gah!! Also, I tend to be delusional about the temperautures here and think I can wear spring clothes even though it's not warm yet...

I would just dress cute, like dressy/casual. I probably would wear regular everyday makeup for the bridal shower, but for the bachelorette I might have more dramatic makeup or sexy top. I guess I would bring a bag of makeup just in case with some clothing options. It depends on your style.

In my experience the bridal shower and bachelorette parties have not been a surprise for the bride. Baby showers are usually a surprise in my social circle.

I would be anxious, too. This is why I don't like surprise parties!  I agree to dress cute in something that would be appropriate for anything.

IMO, skinny jeans, heels, and a cute top with a cardigan goes a long way. Like Retread said, throw some jewelry in your bag for "dressing up" and you're good to go.

What about putting together an emergency the outfit that you want to wear for your shower/bachelorette and giving it to your MOH or other trusted person.  That way if you show for something and it is your shower/bachelorette and you are not dressed they way you want to be, you can change.

This is exactly why I said I did not want any suprise showers or parties. I would wear a cute dress that can be casual or dressed up.

Hey ladies! The shower and bachelorette were this past weekend! I wore the pants I linked to up above, plus a cute shirt from the limited and some heels. I think people were a little bummed that I was sartorially prepared, but I told them I had reached the point where I was going to look put together whenever I went out on the weekends.

I had a fabulous time - it's shocking how well my bridal party and mom know me - thank you for all of your help, and enjoy your special pre-wedding parties if they haven't come already! :-)

Pick out the outfits you would like to wear and give them to your MOH.  That way, she can bring it to your shower/bachelorette party and when you get there and are surprised you can then change.  I've seen this done dozens of times and it's always worked!  That way, you don't have to stress over this and still be surprised!  Just make sure your hair and makeup are done at all times from here on out!
