Running of the Brides!

Is ANYONE planning to participate? I think it may be kind of fun!

Obviously, there is no more Filene's Basement, but the event is still upstanding apparently.

    I went to the one in fb newton. I got there 2 hs before opening and I honestly thought it wasn't worth it. It was a madhouse for 30 mins but after that people were just able to walk in, no line. I stood outside one of the coldest mornings of the year for 2 hs for what. I got a dress and I do like it, but I paid 300 for it and the most I've seen it for online was 500, but most other sources were maybe 350. It was just a production and a lot of fuss and I felt bad leaving empty handed so I bought it. Just my two cents.

    My wedding is in May of 2013.  I am going to start dress shopping next month.  If I haven't found anything by August, I will probably go.

    I really wanted to do this event....I did it as a bridesmaid with one of my friends in 2010 and we all had a great time and the bride got a great dress at a great discount....but according to the link you posted it actually says that the event is no longer taking place since filenes basement went out of business. I did see on the news though that they are auctioning off the rights to the name "running of the brides" so another store may take it over...I am still holding out hope and if you did indeed see an announcement that they are still holding it this year please let me know!

    If you read my post in the beginning...it's being held Aug 17th at the Boston Hynes Convention Center...I am not sure where it may be held in other areas or states....

    I stated in the beginning that the event is being held Aug 17th at the Boston Hynes Convention Center...I am not sure where it may be held in other areas or states....also, I do not know where the dresses come from or the various designers. My friend did it a few times for friends of hers and said they are nice, expensive dresses at a steep discount...

    We went in the afternoon when I got out of work (I'm a teacher - so about 3) and it was not busy at all.  We found tons of beautiful dresses and I ended up finding mine!! I loooove it! It was a $2000 dress I got for $300... in my opinion it was absolutely worth it!! And if you go in the afternoon or mid-day it's not a zoo, but still really fun!

    I still don't think it is being held this year as when I google it all I find is various websites saying that unfortunately Running of the Brides has come to an end (the link you posted also says this). Would you mind sharing your source saying it is August 17th???? I really really do want to do it so i would appreciate any information, Also I know filenes basement is auctioning the name and rights to the event this week so another store may pick it up.

    That site says (tent). I think that meant tentative. I called the Convention Center today and they do not have the event on file for August 2012.
    Maybe b/c Filene's is trying to sell the rights, they couldn't have a sale this year unless someone buys the rights.
    If anyone hears more information please share!!! I would love to go!!!
