Dress Alterations help!

Help!
I have been in contact with Leighanna Reynolds, and am meeting with her tomorrow, but I want to try and find someone who can get me a better price. I am not getting married until August.
Any suggestions? I live in Richardson, and do not want to drive too far!
Also, how much did your alterations cost? I need the bottom hemmed and the bust taken in, but there is no lace/beading.
Thanks :)

Re: Dress Alterations help!

  • Becky Fowler is in Irving and I don't know of anyone cheaper. For my hem, bustle, cups and bodice it was $125 but that was in 2009. My contact info. May be outdated but the # I have is 972 986-8067.
  • I tried to find her e-mail, because I heard she rarely answers the phone, but tried two different addresses and neither worked. :(
  • I just tried calling that number to set up an appointment to get my dress altered for our June 1 wedding, and she answered. I also got her email (she said she changed email addresses about a year ago). It's beckyfowler1@live.com.
  • Thanks! Do you know how booked she is?
  • I feel like Leighanna is actually pretty comparable to Becky price-wise.  If Becky is too booked up, she always recommends Leighanna.

  • I don't think she is "too" booked up yet, but she certainly does have stuff booked out. I set an appt for April & my 1st choice in date & time was actually already booked., but I was able to set the appt for earlier or later that day. If you call, she can help & give you an idea of about how much it'll cost ya too.
  • I paid $200 for a bustle, hem, and to have shoulders taken in. However, my dress was lace, which is VERY hard to work with. She had to completely remove my bottom swatch of lace, trim the hem, and then sew the lace applique back on.
I have a friend who went to her last week to take in the waist and take in a layer of tulle, and she is only charging 150.

She can book up fast. I am planning to get her to alter a BM dress for me for a May wedding, and I'm going to call in March just to check on availability.
  • I had a TON of work that had to be done to my dress hem, bustle, shoulder, bust all in lace. Becky was sooo super reasonable and did an impeccable job! My alterations cost 200, but I know from anyone else they would have run 500600. It is quite a drive to Irving...but well worth the time!
  • I just had my second fitting with Becky this weekend and the number listed above is still the correct number.
