honeymoon research...

i REALLY want to go to Grenada (spice island beach resort); however, there are no direct flights from atlanta, leaving minimum of 10 hour travel time.  I think it would be worth it...my fiance just doesnt want to deal with the long layover.
I am hoping someone has been and can give me some feedback from their experience???

  • Long layovers are a part of travel...I'm assuming your FI hasn't travelled much. I haven't been to Grenada but I've travelled to Africa and Europe from Central Canada and I've had layovers ranging from 2 hrs to 12 hrs. I really don't think too much about them. If spending an evening in an airport terminal gets me to a kickazz place then so be it.

  • I had no idea how far south Grenada was until I looked at a map!  Yeah, it's not ideal to have such long layovers and I personally hate them but it really comes down to: How much do you want to go there?

I'm assuming you'll have to change planes in Miami?  Would your husband be open to spending a night in Miami either on the way there or the way home?  Just to break up the trip a little bit?

Or, is he just overwhelmed by that after planning a wedding and participating in one that he just wants to relax on a closer honeymoon?  You can always go to Grenada another time if this trip right now is too much for him.  He's allowed to feel that way.

Good luck!  I'd love to go there one day.

For long layovers, what do you do with your luggage if you want to explore? Or do you not leave the airport?
