I emailed Dina of Dina's Cakes and Cake Girls. I would love to do one, but I don't know if it is worth the expense:( Cake Girls was $600. Dina's seemed more reasonable, like $300.

i had issues with Dina--she was incommunicando for most of the planning process until I told her I was going to go elsewhere, then she said she'd do it. Three weeks before I emailed her for confirmation 3 times with no response, so I went elsewhere anyway. I know she does good work, but be prepared.

I ended up using Vanille Patisserie (PIB) and they were amazing! It was big enough to feed 50 people (I asked for 30 but they made it bigger for the same price) and it was around $320. I think they were 10-12 per serving for a 3D cake, which is far more reasonable than cake girls or amy beck. I also checked out sugar syndicate and they were similarly priced.

We are also using Vanille Patisserie (for our wedding cake, not doing a groom's cake) but so far, so good! Their idea of a tasting was super generous- they gave us 3 entire mini-cakes! Their cake is SOOOO good!!! Rho, I'm so glad you liked working with them. We are so excited to eat our wedding cake!

We used Dina for our groom's cake and yes, she definitely has some communication problems. I feel like someone should tell her because it's going to hurt her in the long run. But the cake was AMAZING -- we did an underwater/scuba diving theme and we did chocolate and baileys and chocolate ganache on the other layer and it was SO delicious. People were raving about the groom's cake. Mmm... I just want to have another party so we can have more cake from Dina!

i'm using Vanille as well and Keli is AMAZING!!! i haven't been able to sneak in a convo about groom's cake, but thanks for giving me a ballpark to work off of Rho
