Vendor Reviews for my 10.2.10 Wedding in Northern NH

Hi everyone...I haven't been very vocal on these boards...but I just wanted to stop by and post my vendor reviews because I wanted to share the info with future brides!

Venue - Bishop Farm B&B: A+++++++++++++++++++++++++

www.bishopfarm.com

My husband and I first visited Bishop Farm for Valentine's Day weekend in 2009. Since then we have been back for special occasions or weekend get-aways and each trip is even better than the last.

We had a lot of choices of where we wanted to get married and we are SOOOOO happy we chose Bishop Farm. There are so many reasons why our wedding was so amazing and many of those reasons are because of the mother/daughters owners Maggie, Annie and Heather Salter. The care and dedication they put into running this B&B is so evident the moment you arrive. They did everything possible to make the weekend and the wedding go off without a hitch and the success of our wedding was in LARGE part due to them. They are three spectacular women!

Every single one of our guests, both those who stayed the weekend with us at Bishop Farm and those who did not, commented on how amazing the place was and how friendly the people are. We rented out the entire place for the weekend and it was such a blessing to see our friends and family enjoy Bishop Farm as much as we did.

I'll never be able to really put into words how much my husband and I love Bishop Farm and how special it is to us. But I do know this past weekend was magical and it's all because of the Bishop Farm and the Salter family!

Hinkley Photo - A+++++++++

www.hinkleyphoto.com

I don't even know where to begin! Booking Hinkley Photo was one of the best decisions we made. My husband and I have received sooo many compliments on not only the sneak peek of our photos they posted on their blog less than 2 days after the wedding, but also what great people they are! Everyone commented on how friendly and kind they are. They made Pete and I feel so relaxed and I cannot even begin to tell you how much we LOVE the photos we've seen so far.

I'll end this review with one comment I received from a friend about their photos..."they capture the moment so beautifully.. like they are in your head and know what you are thinking and feeling"!!

Here’s a sneak peek of our wedding that they posted to their blog: http://www.hinkleyphotoblog.com/index.cfm?postID=279&admin=9C7E0EFA-5425-42BE-990C20717C1B9698

Stylist - Caitlin Murphy: A++++++++

www.caitlinmurphystylist

I really don’t think I could ever put into words how happy Caitlin made me on my wedding day. I actually started crying when I looked in the mirror because I have never felt so beautiful in my whole life. In the almost 6 months since my hair and make up trial with Caitlin we've become friends...she is the sweetest and kindest person you'll meet and it was such a blessing to have her calming and enthusiastic attitude there on my wedding day.

I wholeheartedly recommend Caitlin...she'll make you feel beautiful inside and out!!!

Emily Herzig Floral Studio – A+++++++++

www.ehfloral.com

Emily of EH Floral far exceeded my expectations of what my wedding flowers would be on our big day. I'm not sure I can express the pure joy and happiness I feel over our flowers. So many of our guests complimented me on the beauty of our flowers and my expectations were far exceeded!

From Day One she worked with me to determine the look and feel of what I wanted and over time she turned my little vision into an AMAZING creation. She never hesitated when I made a new request and was so great about my constant questions! Emily is one of the nicest people I have ever met and I feel soooo blessed to have her as our florist.

Aaron Denny Musician and DJ – A+++++++++

www.aarondenny.com

Let me start off my saying we had soooo many of our guests come up to us to say Aaron is the best DJ they have ever heard.

And we have a ton of friends and family who have been to a LOT of amazing weddings. People have been emailing and calling saying our wedding reception was the best they have ever been to and that is due in large part to how unbelievably amazing Aaron was! He played the perfect mix of music and the dance floor was packed the entire night. He was so good our guests asked if he could stay an extra hour! So that means people were on the dance floor for almost four hours....dancing the night away to the awesome music Aaron played.

Aaron also played the classical guitar during our wedding ceremony and acoustic guitar during our cocktail hour. He is such a talented musician with an amazing voice...everyone loved it!

I also have to comment on how friendly and accommodating Aaron is. He was so great to work with during the planning process and was such a pleasure to work with on our big day!!

Abbott Rental - B

www.abbottrental.com

Abbott Rental was great to work with throughout the planning process and Judy was very friendly. She was great during the planning process and was so accommodating to the million and one requests and changes we had.

I would say I was a little disappointed to find out that they didn't set up the reception tables and chairs until after they had delivered everything. I feel like this is something they should be sure to mention…although to be fair I didn’t check the contract yet to see if it is mentioned there. However, Abbott provided me with four different layouts for the inside of the tent so I assumed this meant they would at least set up the tables based on the layout I “approved”. So it was a little extra stress the day or so leading up to the wedding knowing we were responsible for that.

Other than that they were great to work with! I would definitely recommend them for any brides-to-be!

Chef Joe's Catering - Food: A++++++/Communication: C

www.chefjoescatering.com

I want to start off by saying that the food Chef Joe's provided for our reception was unbelievable! My husband and I are big foodies and love to dine out at fine restaurants in the Boston area. Chef Joe exceeded our expectations and we worked very closely with him to create a menu that was exactly what we wanted for our wedding meal. We received so many compliments on the food from our guests and were extremely happy with the quality of the food the day of our wedding.

Unfortunately, I have to point out that the communication with the company was not as amazing as the food Chef Joe creates. It's certainly not anything to keep a bride from booking with them...but I would caution that you need to be patient. It takes quite a while sometimes to have emails returned. My one big complaint is that I had confirmed well in advance of the wedding that the children's meals would consist of chicken fingers and mac and cheese. My husband and I may be big foodies...but we don't expect the kids to enjoy cornish game hen or braised lamb shank like the rest of guests did. I had told several of the kids and their parents about the kid’s meals and they were all very excited!  Unfortunately, they did not serve this to the children but just a smaller version of the cornish game hen we were serving the adults. The way I found out about it was looking over and seeing my niece/flower girl in tears. Not a great feelingIt was very important to us that the children enjoy themselves and although the lack of chicken fingers with mac& cheese didn't ruin the evening for them...it was a disappointment!

They also forgot to inform me that the small birthday cake that we had ordered for my nephew was being kept in their fridge. We had planned to present him with the cake and sing Happy Birthday at our reception. Imagine my panic when no one can find the cake that the bakery had delivered earlier in the day! We all ran around trying to figure out a Plan B but the cake was in their fridge the whole time. Sooo disappointing.

Honestly though...the food was so amazing but I'm not sure it makes up for the break downs in communication.

    QUESTIONS!!!
    I was already looking at this venue via the internet, as I'm in New Brunswick (Canada, not NJ). We'd like to do an immediate family only ski vacation wedding (about 20 people) in the white mountains area. Everything in the area seems so expensive (probably because the mention of a wedding has people stearing you towards the Mount Washington Hotel or Castle in the Clouds). Does this venue allow you to supply your own wine? Did you host the dinner in the maine dining room or outside? About how far a drive would it be to the Mount Washington/Attitash/Wild Cat area?

    I would definitely call the ladies at Bishop Farm as they are some of the nicest people I have ever met. My husband and I have actually become really good friends with them over the course of planning our wedding there! They work so closely with us to help plan the most perfect day and did everything in their power to make our dreams come true! We ADORE them! J

    Our wedding was in a tent but I don’t think that would work with a winter wedding. But since your wedding is so small you may want to talk to the ladies at Bishop Farm to see if their kitchen and dining areas could accommodate you. Like I said…they are so sweet so I know they would do everything they could to make it happen for you.

    They have seven rooms in the main house and six ADORABLE cottages. Not sure if the cottages are open in the winter but there is the Ammonoosuc Inn and Blueberry Farms B&B about 5 minutes down the road where some of your guests could also stay! All of our guests that stayed at Bishop Farm absolutely fell in love and are already talking about going back the first chance they can! Seriously…the BEST decision we made was having our wedding at Bishop Farm…it’s a magical spot!
    J

    Breton Woods at the Mount Washington Resort would be a great spot for skiing as it has a great variety of trails for all skill levels and love the facilities. Plus it’s only about 30 minutes from Bishop Farm, whereas Attitash and Wildcat are about an hour. The area that Bishop Farm is in is sooo beautiful and the town of Littleton (10 minutes away) is great for shopping, antiquing and dining!

    You should definitely give the ladies at Bishop Farm a call…I know they would love to help you plan a perfect wedding. I told them to use me as a reference any time, so if you have anymore questions for me they’ll give you my direct contact info J
