I am wearing heels, the ones I have are a wider heal almost an inch wide, so they work better. However my BM are wearing heels as well I've gotten her these,
I am torn as well. My Fiance is about an inch taller than me with bare feet. He thinks I should wear heels, although I don't see it going with my dress. We are having our ceremony in the grass, and his mom thinks we absolutely need an aisle runner.
Solemates if I decide on heels, I just don't want to tower over him.
Would do flats, but don't want to be boring.
Not sure about a wedge...
If I do an asile runner, I would have a plywood base built and then attach the runner to it. I am not going to risk injuries or a bunched up Runner.
I saw the cutest thing, and almost want to change the position of my ceremony so I can do it! http://www.hellodefine.com/2011/04/making-love/ Its an alternative, at least for the ceremony part :-)
I'll probably wear heels and be mindful for the time they're on.. but we're going to be in a backyard and it's going to be semi-casual, so as soon as the ceremony is over, the shoes are coming off!
I found some really gorgeous flat sandals that I'm really happy with. I don't want to have to think about how I'm walking when I go down the aisle... I figure I'll have enough to worry about without getting my heels stuck in the grass!! I think wedges are a good option too, depending on your style of dress.
Wow! Lots of great ideas! Thank you! I didn't even consider wedges! I love love those heart planks to stand on. I will definitely bookmark the soulmates. Brilliant! Maybe I can wear the heels I planned on! I would love to wear flats...but I'm short and wearing tea length. Thanks ladies!!
Thanks for the Soulmates idea--didn't know they existed!
I, too, am wearing heels with my dress for my backyard wedding--flats or wedges just won't look right with my dress, although surely they'd be more practical! I've decide to walk carefully down the "aisle," and then stand on a little rug where we're having the ceremony. I saw this in the most recent Martha Stewart Weddings and fell in love with it. As for the reception, bare feet or anything goes!
My friend swears by Heels Above (clicky). They're similar to the SoleMates mentioned above. I've never used them, but just thought I'd throw out another option!
I am going barefoot, my fiance is about 2 inches taller, and we are both going no shoes, we are very outdoorsie and love the feel of grass under our feet!!
They are a bit wider on the bottom to actually keep your heel from sinking into the grass. They worked great and I gave them out as favors to all the ladies attending the wedding.

Thank you for the link! I thought about getting the soulmates ones but they looked so big and these looked sleeker so I went ahead and bought them. Hopefully they'll do the trick!

I'm a barefeet kinda gal anyway, though.
