Anything new with wedding planning??

I bought the lace I'm going to use to cover my votives, that's about it. I've been meaning to finish my card box for a couple weeks... just havent gotten around to actually gluing anything together.

I have my caterer tastings scheduled. Pre-cana date set. Ordering my STDs this week. Need to figure out what I want to do for centerpieces and the bouquets so I can contact a florist. Hmmmmm.....going to figure out the rest of the guest list as soon as my father-in-law gets out of the hospital AGAIN!!! Arrrgghhh! So frustrating! I just want him healthly already

Exciting week here - we officially set a date for our wedding and confirmed it with our ceremony and reception venues! We're getting married at Heinz Chapel and having our reception in the PPG Aquarium at the Pittsburgh Zoo on August 11, 2012. Now we can breathe for a few weeks, I think. My next priorities are a photographer and DJ.

I got a lot done, thank goodness! We got our invites printed, cut, assmbled, addressed and in the mail on Friday. We've already received 8 RSVPs in the mail, which I didn't think was possible. The pictures I took make the paper look a little funny, but the blue paper is really quite shiny.

I narrowed my table number choices down to two - epics or black and white pics of buildings in Pittsburgh

We got our ceremony order and readings all picked. And we were floored to learn that one of our guest's gift to us was the vodka and tequila for our wedding. Oh, and we picked our rehearsal dinner location, thank goodness!

Lily, STDs made the wedding feel so real. And catering tasting might have been my favorite part of wedding planning so far.

Britt - congrats on setting your date and location. I REALLY wanted my wedding at the zoo, but it was just slightly out of price range for me and the # of guests. It'll be beautiful!

Britt - congrats on setting the date/venue! I love the Aquarium for a wedding.

MRads - your invites are really cool. Also, I might be stealing this table number idea with buildings in Pittsburgh... i love it!

Thank you so much, MRads and mdphd! My fiance and I are sooo excited to have booked the Aquarium. Besides it just being a stunning venue, my fiance is an avid scuba diver, so it works really well for us!

Last Thursday we did our cake tasting! Yum! Got it all ordered and decided our cupcake flavors!

Monday I got part of my center pieces in mail! They are cuts of trees (3in wide) to hold our table numbers. Very excited about that!

Yesterday I got word that the Caricature Artist I want to be at the reception is open our Wedding Day and is sending some examples in the mail to us. May I say I never thought of having a Caricature Artist at our wedding but we were registering at Sears and this man that worked there stopped and asked us what we were registering for, we told him and he gave us his card. I'm so excited about this because I really wanted a photo booth at the wedding but it's out of budget.. So I called him and he's affordable so we may be going that route!

Hey girls! Sorry I have been MIA lately. I've been busy with wedding stuff (for friends, not my wedding) and moving and nesting into our new place.

So STDs are ready to be ordered. I just have to get the FI's stamp of approval (and he really doesn't care lol) and I'm waiting on my stepsister to give me the list of guests from my stepfamily as I don't have addresses. At this point I'm not really sure she will give them to me....

All the girls ordered their bridesmaids dresses too! Yeay! The were discontinued this week so they had to be ordered in time. Thankfully the order went through ok as far as I know.

My FMIL also showed me a piece of old luggage that was my FI's grandfathers at one point (FI was very close to him). We are going to decorate and use that as our card holder since we have a bit of a travel theme. It's a nice way to have his grandpa represented since he pasted on a few years ago.

Ok I'll be back later but I gotta get some more work done today! Bla on the close.

Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to the idea of writing on message boards, but I have been able to get some good advice from the Knot boards. We got engaged in April and are in the beginning stages of planning our August 25, 2012 wedding. We finally decided on the date/venue. We are getting married at my grandparents' church, St Stanislaus in the Strip District and our reception is at the Renaissance. My fiance is a huge baseball fan and has loved the Pirates all his life, so when we saw the view of PNC Park from the Renaissance, that sold us.

I am just in the beginning stages of planning the rest. We are meeting with a photographer next week. I'm sure I will have tons of questions in the near future and I know I can trust you ladies to give good, honest opinions and advice!

I booked Jessica Tyler for make-up! She's awesome

and I'll be sending a deposit to Brooke Rockwell for hair this week. I also really need to get my darn STDs out. They've been in my possession for almost three months now. They need to get off my bookshelf. Hopefully I'll get them out in the next few weeks.

We ordered inserts for our STDs with our wedding website on them and a pic of us on the back... that's about it.

We moved this past weekend so that has been consuming our lives!

Met with Laura Ruppersburger Tuesday! I love her work (she's photographed me for skating before). I hope to get her booked soon, but I have to wait until the move is over (hooray it's almost over). We start driving tomorrow bright and early.

Hi ladies! A little late (like usual!), but I am just so excited about the things I got done this weekend. First, I made a centerpiece (I guess that's what you call it) for the escort card table. Unfortunately it's at my mom's so my sister texted me a pic but I can't figure out how to save that to my phone. Pic to come later!

I also got the bustle dilemma solved! I am absolutely thrilled with how it will look:) My FMIL's friend really knows her stuff when it comes to bridal alterations and saved me from the opinion of the first lady, which was to wear the train on my wrist all evening!

MD - can't wait to see pics of your lace votives when you have some done! What color lace did you choose?

Britt - Congratulations! I think that setting the date is such an awesome feeling! The zoo/aquarium was our second choice (originally my first choice).

MRads - Where is yours again? I kept thinking it was the zoo so you must have mentioned about looking there a while back. We're getting close now!
