    Welcome!

Our centerpieces will be part candles part flowers. I bought giant martini and margarita glasses at the Christmas Tree Shops and Michaels which will be the middle of the centerpieces. They'll be filled with water and have floating candles in them. At the base there will be three small square vases with roses in them. My venue will be providing votives to go inbetween the 3 vases at the base. Pictures in my bio of each piece under the flowers tab. HTH!

So far this is what we are thinking, medium size glass centerpiece with hydrangeas. Each table will also have votives on them.

I have similar colors to yours,  I am planting Wheatgrass in tins (from the dollar store) that I covered with Ivory satin material and ribbon to dress them up.

    Hi Money Saver!

Soooo we're doing our centerpieces incredibly economically, but I'm hoping the "whimsical" look of ours will make sense in our unconventional venue.  I'm plopping about 8 bright yellow 12" pinwheels ($12.99 for 72 from Oriental Trading) into dollar 9.5" vases from the Dollar Tree.  $65 total spent on 25 guest tables= less than $3 per centerpiece.

We kinda splurged on white resin folding chairs and royal blue tablecloths for the guest tables, so I'm hoping that from afar, when eyes pan the room, the yellow pinwheels will at least look as colorful and cheery as fresh blooms against the blue linens, and for way, WAY less dough.

We double dutied our centerpieces and make individual cakes on white cake plates - they served as the cakes dessert as well as the centerpiece.

Hi and welcome! I have pictures of my centerpieces in my Wedding Bio. It's hard to talk cost when flower prices vary extremely due to different types of flowers, florists, how lush you want them to be. Do you have any ideas on what you would like? All high, half high and half short? etc?

We're doing 5" square glass vases w/ black river rocks, 7 stems of purple dendrobium orchids, lily grass, a tropical leaf and 3 stalks of bamboo.  My florist is ordering the flowers and supplies for me, and we did a mockup of the arrangement that I will DIY. All in, I think each arrangement is costing me under $25. Other places gave me quotes on similar arrangements for around $60-$90 if they made them.  I found the rocks at the dollar tree for $1/bag.  Online the cheapest I found for the same amount was $5-$10, so I think I saved a lot of money there, and my florist matched the wholesale flower prices I found online.

Our original plan was to do half of the tables with lanterns with a few small blooms (maybe hydrangea stems) in a small mason jar on either side. The other half would have a low centerpiece with votives surrounding it.

This was the idea I just brought to a florist but was quoted over $3,000. This included 10 tables with a small bloom on either side of my lantern and 10 tables with a traditional low centerpiece, 1 bridal bouquet, 3 bm bouquet, 3 mom/gma corsages, and 3 bouts. Seems high, right?

I think that's high, but that's just me. I have similar numbers to yours w/ bouquets and such, my bouquet, 3BM bouquets, 4 bouts, 4 corsages... and probably 12 tables with centerpieces... given, I'm DIYing my centerpieces, but I'm buying over 120 stems of orchids, lily grass and 40-50 stalks of bamboo, tropical leaves, river rocks, vases, etc and everything is coming in under $1000.  I wouldn't think that a couple small blooms on 10 tables and having them make 10 centerpieces (versus you DIYing) would come to an additional $2000.  What kind of flowers were you thinking for the traditional centerpieces?  Flower prices do vary a lot depending on what you're getting.  Is the florist providing the lanterns?  I could see them charging a fortune for those.  If you're doing lanters, I'd buy them yourself and not through them.  I'm not using cheap flowers though... dendrobium and cymbidium orchids, peonies, renuncula, roses and hydrangea.

akulaji- I saw some lanterns at michael's/chistmas tree shop, etc. for 5 bucks on sale. I thought I'd pick them up. I told her I like peonies, garden roses, dahlia's, and hydrangea. Dahlia's aren't in season so we scratched those. I'm not a big floral person; I didn't know the names of these flowers until today. I want the flowers to look nice since I'm spending a pretty penny on photography..other than that I couldn't care. I'm going to shop around.

I think I might need to wait until I know more about my colors and girl's dresses. I didn't know a lot of the answers to her questions.

Money saver..my bm (who is getting married 3 weeks after me and I'm in her wedding too) has the same color scheme as you.
She sent me this pic the other day asking my opinion.

I really like it if you were thinking about floral centerpieces.

SillyGoose, I don't know where your wedding is, but if Flore isn't too far for you, you should check them out.  They're in Southbury.  Lori is the owner, and she's fabulous.  She's totally worked within my budget and helped me figure out how to get the most for my money.  I definitely think her prices are fair and she's very creative.  http://www.flowersasmedicine.com/

well first of all i like stared at ur guys picture for a minute you two have some beautiful eyes, very sexy... now back to business i dont really know what i want i would love a tall centerpiece, but i think the bigger the centerpiece the more money.. i would like to keep it under 20 bucks, ive tried to do some trial centerpieces of floating candles in this short round bowl from walmart and the candles made the glass really hot and it cracked in half.. water every where i was mortified. then i thought of going to stopnshop and checking out their flower arragements they have in their fridge and find one around my budget and see if they can switch some flowers to my wedding colors and lots of votives everywhere..
i also thought of doing just candles on a glass plate with flowers petals on the table then the hall told me no that all the candles need to be surrounded by glass,
i really loved that idea too.
and this is why i still dont know what i want, someone save me...
oh and my fiance is the type that contradicts everything i say so that doesnt help either.. lol

...everytime I read about flowers and centerpeices I get a tension headache.

DIY Knotties!! When/How did you decide and start making your own centerpeices? What did you do for the boquets? Did you DIY those, as well? I was looking at Real Simple and there are some GORGEOUS DIY ideas but, something tells me my glue gun skills are not as good as their stylists.

HI! I'm getting married on May 16th.  My centerpieces are super easy and inexpensive.  I got from Michael's craft store the 36oz brandy snifters, blue and clear marbles, and I got floating candles from YummiCandles.com.  I am putting the marbles on the bottom of the glass, filling w/ water and putting the candles in!

I get a flyer from Michael's in the mail each week with a 40% off 1 item coupon.  I went and got 1 glass each week till I had enough.
    Good luck!
