Indecisive about honeymoon location; Kauai or the Big Island????

We will be spending 6 days on Maui and plan to hop to a different island for our honeymoon for another 6 days.  Any recommendations between these two islands?  I love seeing all the mountains range and the lushness of Kaui, but I also think seeing an active volcano would be totally awesome.  With 6 days to spend, where would you choose to go?

I haven't done Kauai (yet - that's this summer's plan), but I love the Big Island. I think the observatories are amazing, the volcano is defintiely cool and I LOVE how laid back it is there.

Ive never been to the big island but we went to kauai last year & loved it! The na pali coast was breath taking! I have a fb album of our photos i can Pm you if you are interested. We considered the big island for our honeymoon but decided on maui because we wanted more sandy beaches & snorkeling and im not sure but i think the big island has more rocky beaches.

Just a thought...can you do 3 nights on each island or 4 nights on one and 2 nights on the other? J. :-)

Loved Kauai - its often labelled as the "honeymoon island".  Think of dense rain forests and secluded beaches.  Very romantic feel and less touristy.

You could spend a full 6 days there, but I'd suggest splitting it up and spending half of the time in the North and half in the South (or East), so you get a taste of different parts of the island.  Highly recommend a helicopter ride...it's the only way to see/access some parts of the island.  We were amazed!  Stayed in Westin Princeville and Kauai Marriott....both were top class!

Haven't been to Big Island, although my aunt owns a timeshare there.  Can't comment much about it.  I heard that it's more difficult or time-consuming to get around (called "Big Island" for a reason!).  It has more variety of landscapes.  But Kauai is more green and lush - it has more of a 'romantic' feel to it.  It all depends what your preferences are - you can't go wrong!  HTH!!
