I originally thought a steamer would be quicker/easier, but now I'm second guessing myself. I've heard irons with built-in steamers are good... maybe we'll just register for that, or for both?? Opinions please!
I love my iron but that's all I've ever used. My friend swears by her steamer. She said that it cuts her time in half. It wouldn't hurt to register for both.
If you wear a lot of stuff that needs to be ironed, I would register for both. You might consider registering for a travel steamer, which you can use at home, and it would be convenient to take on trips if you have to pack nice clothes--a quick steam in the hotel room helps get some of the wrinkles out. If you actually want to iron a piece of fabric for a project or a garment, though, a steamer isn't going to be a good substitute.
I have both, but use my iron more often. I will say that I mostly registered for a travel steamer to steam my dress the day before my wedding. My BM's used it for theirs too. I do use the steamer on dry clean only clothes in between the times I take them to the dry cleaners!

I have both and use both, but I also have a job that requires me to wear a suit every day...and steaming is a LOT faster than ironing an entire suit. For little stuff I just use the iron, but in general, think the steamer is a lot faster for most things. But like someone above said, you can't, say, stick an iron-on transfer to something with a steamer.
I don't iron anything. Period. If it has to be ironed, I don't buy it. I'm going to register for the steamer, because I don't mind using them, and they're gentler on your clothes.
I don't use an iron nearly enough and I can borrow one from his mom or my gma. I registered for a steamer and did not get today at my shower but got gc's so I am using it for that. I plan on steaming my own gown and my girls dresses.
