Which veil for my dress

I plan on ordering a drop veil from veilshop but don't know what length to get.  I want a long simple one. I can't decide between their 110 inch, 130 inch, or 150 inch ones (all shown here:  <a href="http://www.veilshop.com/Cut_c_17638.html"&gt;Veilshop&lt;/a&gt; )

My dress is eden bridals 2322 <a href="http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com/pr/Eden-2322/19171" />Link</a>  Here's the back of the dress on me (I'm aware I look like a linebacker)

I'm getting married in a church (day wedding) and not wearing the veil to the ceremony.

Thanks for opinions.

  • grr don't know why those links look like that but they work.
  • I really like the back of your dress, so I vote for the 110 inch since it's the shortest.

  • I think the 130in would most closely match the train on your dress.  If you want the veil to end before the train of your dress, go with the 110 in.  It looks like the 150in would be longer than the train on your dress.  It really comes down to which look you would prefer.

I have a sweep train, so shorter than yours, but I think my veil is currently 130 inches.  If I don't have the veil shortened, it will be longer than the train of my dress, but I think that will look ok in a church setting.

It also looks like your dress has some detailing at the end of the train, you might not want to cover that even with a thin layer of the veil, but that is also your decision.

Could you try on some veils with your dress to get an idea of the length and then "sleep on it" and order online?  Or use a tape measure to see how long it would be, better yet with the dress on so you can see where the end of the veil would fall compared to the edge of the train.

When I ordered my veil it only took a few weeks so if your dress hasn't come in yet you can check if you have time but you can probably wait to buy your veil until after your dress comes in if you don't already have your dress.

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I bought my dress at running of the brides, so not a real store.  I'd feel really weird going into a salon with my dress on asking to try on their veils.  My hair and makeup trial is in a couple weeks so have to decide soon... veilshop says most veils ship w/in 3 days and take about 3 days to come (since it isnt custom or anything it should be quick).

There is detail on the train (can see it better in this pic http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com/pr/Eden-2322/19171).

Is it weird to have a veil that is almost as long as the train?  I just don't know if it is standard for the veil to be a little shorter, same length, or a little longer.

  • Im having a long veil, it will be about 2 inches longer than my train.  It just depends on how you want it to look.  Honestly, if you are going for a longer veil, I think it looks odd if it shorter than your dress.
