Ash Wednesday!

Who's getting ashes today?

We're trying to decide between 530 Mass at our church or 7pm at another church that's closer.  We love our church, but it can be a challenge to get to on a weeknight with traffic, etc. (its half hour away from us).

Im also picking up fresh fish for dinner.  Yum!

I really want to but the mass times are difficult with work schedules.  If I can't make it to mass, I'm going to drop by and get the ashes because a lot of churches have the ashes available all day.

I think a priest visits the nursing home where I work today, so I'll see if I can go to the service with my patients.  Otherwise, I'll go to the service after work.

depends on what i get...i love salmon, H hates it.  often times i get 2 types so we both get what we like.

i usually do my salmon with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh ground black pepper.   he likes his haddock/cod with butter and breadcrumbs.

We will going to 5:30 mass and ashes tonight.  It is always packed to the gills and in English and Spanish.  It's great to see the community come together for this one mass.

I wish FI liked fish/seafood but he does not so we are doing pasta.

We're going after work at 5 for ashes and mass. We decided to have our only meal at lunch, so I'm feeling ok now, but it was a hungry morning!

I made a really good salmon dish with homemade mango-avocado salsa the other day- message me if you'd like the recipe, it was simple, quick and delicious!

We went at 7:00 AM and the chapel was standing room only!  It was nice seeing so many folks there.  You could tell that everyone was dashing off to work.

I was planning on doing a noon service today... but my project manager caught me right before I headed out the door!  I'll probably do a 5:15 or 7pm one instead!  Conveniently, there's a Catholic Church in downtown Minneapolis only about 4 blocks away from my office :)

I was able to get the ashes at work, so that was nice.  I think I"m going to have scrambled eggs with smoked salmon for dinner tonight.

My fiance and I both woke up for the 6am mass. Yikes. But it was nice to get it done before work and not have to worry about rush hour traffic for the 6pm mass. Happy Lenten season to you all!

Went to Mass at 7:00 this morning...I like to go in the morning because it always starts the day off right. I had my head bowed when I got my ashes, though, so I had a somewhat unusual cross...so had a whole lot more people ask me about it!

Had a tofu dish for lunch...that was my big meal...

Due to work I couldn't make it to the 1:00 Mass so I ended up at the very crowded/no room to park Mass at 7.  I didn't have time to plan out a nice fish dinner tonight so I ended up with vegetable soup.

12 noon communion service by the deacon.  I also am a volunteer religion school teacher for second graders and I got ashes a second time then.

Being Vietnamese, FI and I had some vegetable stir-fry and steamed rice, our go-to easy meal.

I'm late to the game (like always).

I went to the 7pm bilingual mass and while it was awesome to see so many people there it was overwhelming. It was my first time at an Ash Wednesday service and on top of that it was almost all in Spanish. I'm going to remember to hit the day time services next year!
