champagne toast

Wondering who is doing one? I'm on my phone or I would post a poll.

We had planned on it and do have a lot of people who enjoy them. I'm starting to question it as other budget items creep up.

I have to talk to my caterer, but I was thinking of maybe having a couple waiters standing at the entrane of the reception space with trays of champagne. Has anyone seen something like this done? Or should I figure people will order champagne at the bar if that's what they want to toast with??

Re: champagne toast

  • We are going to do it. Hadn't really thought about how to get the champagne out, guess I should talk to the caterer!
  • Yes, this is something I need to figure out too. We are doing buffet style lunch, and the champange toast is a MUST - we are ordering my favorite champange.

  • We're doing it. The waitstaff will bring a bottle to each table right before the toasts and will do a simutaneous cork "pop"

  • We're going to have a bottle on each table for service during dinner.  We are also only serving beer, wine and champange at our reception, so it would be odd not to have the toasts.
  • We are not. We were and then we went to three weddings since we've been engaged. At each and every one I noticed full champagne glasses, it was such a waste.

  • Our wedding dinner comes with it so yes, but I don't think it's a must.  If I can negotiate it out with a few dollars off per person I will.  People can toast with whatever drink they have, IMO

This.  It's included in ours too, otherwise I probably wouldn't pay for it.  People can toast with what they are drinking.

  • Nope.  It would be extra for ours so we're not doing it.  We're having an open bar so people can just toast with one of the many other options they can have at an open bar.

  • Yes, we are doing one. It wasn't such a big deal to me but it was a nonnegotiable must have for my parents.

  • We're doing one. The last wedding I went to, the bartender just filled some glasses with the champagne, and people came over and got them. That way he didn't fill more than needed, he could fill more if someone came up and there wasn't one.

  • We are having one. We had to pay extra for it but we really wanted it. We will also be having cider since some of our guests don't drink.

  • We are not having one.  It was a must for my mom.  In NYC where I'm from (at least the area I was in) they ALWAYS had it, but where I live now and am getting married in Ohio, no one really does it.  The compromise I had was putting a bottle of champagne on the family tables.  The head table and the parents tables already included it.  I know it sounds bad to offer it to some guests and not others, but the general consensus among my friends was they don't expect it and haven't ever really seen it.  I'll have the waiters ask around at the tables prior to the toast if any of the other guests would like champagne so I will only pay for what people actually ask for at that point.

  • Ours is included with our package.
  • We are having one, it was included with our reception package, and to remove it would've been a negligible amount off per person, so we decided to keep it.
