Rain?

I'm getting married in Winter Park one year from today... I thought this was supposed to be one of the most dry times of the year for FL, but I just looked at the weather to test that theory and it's predicting rain all week?! Is this normal? I grew up in Orlando but haven't lived there for years so I didn't know what to expect but everyone kept telling me April is almost guaranteed good weather so I went ahead and booked an outdoor ceremony AND reception- now I have a year of worrying ahead of me! :(

Please tell me this is a weird fluke?

The weather can really be so unpredictable, so the "norms" aren't really any guarantee of anything, but you might want to check the farmer's almanac and see what they predict.

You might also want to think of a back up plan just in case... It is better to over plan than under plan. GL!

I wouldn't worry, but I would recommend a back up plan.  It will save you from worrying over the next year.  I know when I was looking, that was a requirement for a place to make the maybe list.  They HAD to have a suitable back up plan.  Its not worth waking up on your wedding day and seeing rain and having to spend your whole special day worrying.

As an aside, I don't think April is a particuarly dry month.  =(  I've only been here for 4 years, but from what I understand rainy season starts in March and goes through September.  I'm not trying to be a bearer of bad news and I could totally be wrong, but I'd definitely develop a back up plan...

First off,  don't get worried about the weather just yet. I looked at my wedding day's weather a week in advance and it still didn't predict what it was going to really do until about 3 days before. We got married March 28 and it ended up being the ONLY day it rained in like a 1-2 week period. At first I was really upset and thought it was the end of the world since we were getting married at Leu Gardens, but after crying and getting upset I realized it was beyond anyone's control, so we had a backup plan and moved it inside. I DEFINITELY recommend having a backup plan. We didn't always knew that the wedding would be moved inside, but we didn't plan out decor, so it was VERY hectic the day of trying to figure out how it would look since we moved it inside, so def. try to figure that out in advance.

    Good luck!

Where is your ceremony and reception? Talk to the site manager about maybe some good back up plans. Florida is always pretty unpredictable around spring/ summer so it would pay to have one!

Thanks everyone! We do have a backup plan, it's the Winter Park Racquet Club which is nice indoors too. It wouldn't be a logistical disaster, I'd just be really disappointed because I have always wanted an outdoor wedding and reception, we live in London and could never do that here so our UK friends and family are all excited about the outdoor thing too... I just can't picture it any other way :(

Anyway I guess I'm a little far ahead in worrying about rain...!

Anytime there's a cold front it will rain here, so there isn't a true 'rainy season' - think about how it rains every time it's about to get cold in the winter! I just got married two weeks ago and it was actually pretty hot, not a cloud in sight, so the weather in this part of FL is a crapshoot anytime except the summer, when it's a sure bet that it'll be hot AND rainy. No fretting allowed - it'll turn out just fine. :)
