Maui Photographer recommendations?

We are from Texas and getting married in Maui in June 2013. I've been looking at photographers online and havent found one I like . I wasnt a big fan of the one our resport recommends . I'm looking for a fun photographer thats not just going to take the normal posed shots. Any recommendations?

    I also got married in Maui. We flew in Shawn Starr from Oahu, it wasn't very expensive and we were in love with his work. shawnstarr dot com. :)

    I should clarify - the flying him in part wasn't very expensive. He is a little pricey though. IMO, totally worth it if you have the budget to make it work.

    The most popular Maui photographers on this board:
    - Joanna Tano
    - Kim Aihara
    - Anna Kim
    - Mike Sidney

    No one has used him, but some are a fan of the work:
    - Gordon Nash

    As mauidandy said, you can also fly in photographers from other places, including Oahu.  Some of the more popular Oahu photogs:
    - Shawn Starr
    - Visionari
    - Frank Amodo

    There are a few others I'm not remembering off the top of my head.  The other gals will jump in, though!  It would help to understand a sense of your budget for photography, as that can often dictate the recommendations.

    I used Joanna (and she brought Kim along) for my wedding. Loved them both, but extra love for Joanna - she did our TTD and anniversary shoot too.

    Hi!! We're also using Shawn Starr and flying him over from Oahu. I love his creativity and his prices aren't too crazy expensive, including flight and hotel worked out cheaper than many of the Maui photographers we considered. Our wedding is in a month, I'll be sure to post my thoughts when we get back;)

    Also check out Natalie Brown, look at her pictures on her Facebook for some gorgeous wedding shots.  She is very reasonably priced and super sweet to work with.
