Would like opinions on a Champagne Brunch Wedding

A little background:  Both FH and I are in our early 40's and we are engaged to be married in November. This is the 2nd marriage for each of us and we don't want to spend a great deal of money, we want to have a beautiful memorable ceremony surrounded by family and a few close friends. (BTW--our families combined number 130 people). So to keep costs low we were thinking of doing a Champagne Brunch Wedding--ceremony and then brunch all in the same place, preferably outside somewhere.

Your thoughts?

Re: Would like opinions on a Champagne Brunch Wedding

  • I think a champagne brunch is a great idea, it's elegant, but not over the top.  However, I don't know about outside in November, isn't it getting a little too chilly to eat outside by then?

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming marriage.  Your idea of a champage brunch wedding event sounds very nice!  Don't forget the photographer.  Also, come over to the Second Weddings board to bounce some suggestions off the ladies there!
  • Sounds awesome to me!

  • I love it!  If I didn't want to party it up with a DJ after the ceremony, I would definitely go the brunch route!
  • I think a brunch wedding sound wonderful, something I would enjoy very much.

[QUOTE]My daughter had a morning church wedding followed by an elegant brunch at a nearby country club.  We served mimosas and bloody marys, too.  The cost was far less than a dinner reception, and many of our guests were pleased to have the evening open to go do their own activities.  The older folks liked it because they didn't have to drive at night.  If we had it to do all over again, we wouldn't change a thing!

Great point!  It would give the older family members time to recoup. I am especially excited that my grandmother will be there at 93!
  • Thank you all for your input!  November in San Antonio is actually pretty mild so I would still like to have an outdoor ceremony and then move inside to eat!

    I appreciate the help!
  • Sounds like a great idea! Make sure champagne includes mimosas :)
  • I love the idea of a brunch wedding. I think it would be an easy was to do something classy without breaking the bank. If I was planning a wedding right now, I think this would be a likely a route I would consider.
  • Sounds like a great idea!
