First Mtg with Potential Photographer

Hello!
We are meeting with out first potential photographer on Wednesday -- I'm pretty sure we're going to use her because our bestfriends used her last year and had a great experience and beautiful pictures...we were both in their wedding party and liked the photrapher's personality and style. But what should we expect from the initial meeting? What types of questions should we ask?

Thanks!

Here is the list of questions that I asked or was concerned about:

Can we see a full wedding or proof book?

Will there be a second photographer or assistant?

How many photographs will be taken/how many proofs will we receive?

How long after wedding will prints be ready?

Cost to reorder prints at a later date?

Do you bring back up equipment in case of a malfunction or other problem?  In an emergency, who would photograph the wedding?

    Cancellation policy?

Most good photographers will answer these questions without you even having to ask.  Good luck with your meeting!

I asked everything soon2bmrs.m-lo mentioned, as well as:

    - How do you back up your pictures?
    - Do you primarily shoot weddings?
    - Do you have experience at our venue?  Will you want to visit it beforehand?
    - Do you provide images on a disk with a print release?  If so, what is the cost to replace it should it be lost or damaged?
    - Do you retouch or edit your images?
    - Who do you use for printing services for pictures?  Is it the same service for albums?
    - What is the cost for a replacement album?

Will I recieve a DVD/CD with all the pictures? Will I have rights to all the pictures?

How much will the deposit be? Does it go toward the final balanace?

Make sure they spell out what is in each package.

Also it's important for you and your FI to click with the photographer, if you don't feel comfortable it will show in your photos.

Do you have Commercial General Liability insurance.

If a photographer does not have insurance, even if they can prove to you there good, a lack of a insurance policy just shows you their lack of being Professional.

You should also ask if they're registered in the State of NH.

If they do not, then they don't have the authority to conduct any business (including advertising).
