Good or Bad Idea to Add Appliques? Advice?

Hello Ladies,

So after trying on a million (ok maybe 40) dresses, I finally bought one. It wasn't my first choice, but it looked good, the price was right, my crew loved it, and I really wanted to move on with my life.

I really wanted a dress with black appliques, but I couldn't find any to try on and I didn't trust buying online. PLus, my time is running out.

So....I was thinking of asking a seamstress to do it for me by adding some stuff like this to the back of it. (and maybe some on the front)

What do you guys think? Good idea? Horrible? Should I be aware of anything?

I think those would look amazing on your dress. You can hold them up (or really carefully pin, depending on the fabric?) them and play around with the location you want them in.

Yeah I think the seamstress should be able to steer you in the right direction and should be able to help you "play" with the placement of anything you're adding to your gown. I like the simplicity of the dress and wouldn't personally add anything to it except maybe a sash like the one in your pictures.

These would look wonderful on the dress. Maybe you could do something just along the bottom and then along the bodice of the dress

you will pay heavily for a seamstress to do that, so make sure to ask around before doing so. In south Jersey, somers point, i have a great seamstress that used to make dresses from scratch,. I see you are from NY, if you want to make the trek down here or give her a call i can give you her number
