Florist update

So I met with a florist last night and I have no idea how to gage whether or not I am getting a good price. I was quoted for 7 bridesmaids bouquets, 1 bridal, 1 throw away, 1 flower girl pomander ball, 10 boutonniere, 4 corsages and 2 podium pieces (medium size).

I was quoted $854 including tax and delivery.

My problem is that no other florist will talk to me because they say it's too early so I have nothing to compare it too.

Re: Florist update

  • I tried replying on my computer and apparently it didn't go through, so now I'll try through my phone. I'm not sure what part of Upstate NY you are from but I am just south of Rochester and we have a lot of florists that will talk to you. Let me know if you want recommendations in this area. Another option is Wegmans, they were at a bridal show I went to and had amazing flowers for weddings!

That's crazy. FI and I were getting quotes a year out. It's definitely not too early. As far as your price, I think that's good. The florists that we went to quoted us around 1,000 for what you listed. And we only need 5 BM bouquets. I think it depends on the area you're in too, though. We're doing Costco flowers, but I heard Wegmans is awesome too.

  • That's nuts that no one else will talk to you. I'd also check out Costco and Sam's Club, they both have great deals on flower packages.

  • Wegmans, Rockcastle Florist (it's in Canandaigua but it's who I'm using), Fowers By Stella (Canandaigua), Bloomers Floral & Gift (Bloomfield), Bouquet's By Bonnie (Fairport), Westside Gardens Florist (North Chili), Penfield Flower Shop (Penfield), Stacy K Floral (Rochester). I'm not sure if they will all discuss flowers this early, but Wegmans, Rockcastle, Stella's, and Bloomers all will for sure (I contacted them about 2 months ago for a May 11 wedding and they talked to me).

  • Do you have a break down of each item to compare to other companies. I can tell you mine is just under 600. We're talking me, 4 bridesmaids, 2 corsages, 9 bouteniers 7 of which are actually starfish and being charged extra, throw away bouquet and think that's it.
  • That's crazy they won't talk to you! Im meeting with my florist tomorrow to pick out which cases we will be using and to pay my deposit. The price sounds reasonable

    I think that's a good price. I'm having 6 BM bouquets, 1 bridal, 2 corsages, 1 toss, and 9 bouts for $700.

  • That's super cheap.
All of our florists that we talked to were going to charge $180 for bridal, $85 per bridesmaid, $20 per corsage and $12 per bout.

  • That seems like right around the normal price for the number of pieces you want.... Of course different places charge different rates you just need to trust the person you are working with.
A place that seems really really low compared to that I would worry about size and quality.
