100 People...What size tent?

My wedding is in Oct. in our beautiful backyard. We are inviting 115 guests, and will have everything under the tent (round tables, buffet, dance floor, DJ, cake, etc...). I have already rented the tent (40x40), sides, heaters, etc. The came out the other day to check out the yard and left flags where the tent will go. It looks super small! Now I'm thinking that I may need to upgrade to a 40x60 tent.

Has anyone had a similar number of people in a 40x40 tent?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

  • Wouldn't the tent company be able to provide you guidance on this?  I would hope that they woudl be able to tell you what size tent you need for your guests, tables, etc.

At least I'd hope that the could!

I used this website (<-- clicky) when I was trying to figure out the size we need.

I work for a rental compay. I would definately upgrade to a 40x60.  A 40x40 will most likely fit, but it is going to be a very tight fit. Especially since you are wanting to use side wall, and will need extra space for heaters.
    Best of luck

  • I worked with my rental company. They actually showed me rough layouts of how to arrange people based on what items you pick (round tables vs. rectangle tables) etc.

  • We estimated 100 people and are getting a 40x60, and our tent company gave us a drawing of a mock set up to help us visualize it!

  • We had 76 people, round tables, buffet, dj, photobooth and dance floor and it was great...but if I'd had 100 it would have been tight.  I'd upgrade if I were you, but I'm suprised your rental company hasn't talked to you about this.  Are you getting all your rentals from one place?
