Wedding Woes

What's up for the weekend?

MIL and sFIL come today.  Thankfully I will be getting a haircut and running to target.  Tonight I have a party with some women in the neighborhood.  Sunday is my niece's 10th bday party then my parents take my kids for the night!

I have no clue what DH is working.  First he was off tomorrow and working Sat and Sun.  Now he's talking about working tomorrow and and overnight Sunday.  I don't like the idea of the overnight because he'll have to drive home after work.  Just scares me.

Re: What's up for the weekend?

  • Tonight: No idea.  I want to make a Sam's run, but DH bitches about shopping on Friday after work.

Tomorrow: DH wants to go downtown for the Veterans Parade.  The kiddo has basketball practice at 2.  The outdoor mall down the street is doing a winter/Christmas fest (hilarious, since it's going to be 66 tomorrow) and they're going to have fireworks, Santa's coming, live entertainment.  We may go check it out.

Sunday: Football and my friend is having a Shutterfly House Party that I'm going to attend.
  • Tomorrow is my 3rd annual shopping trip with my mom, sister and YSIL (OSIL doesn't like to shop with a bunch of people so she's not coming).  My aunt and two college-aged cousins are coming this year, too.

    I'm so excited.
  • I get not wanting to shop with people, but she won't go just to hang?

I may have to buy some baby stuff too.  I've got my list and comparison prices and coupons so it may be go time.

  • *I* don't even like shopping with a group, but we don't usually stay together the whole time.  Not everyone wants to go into every store, you know?  If we stayed together the whole day, I couldn't handle it, no matter how much I like my family.

But OSIL just doesn't want to.  And that's fine.  We understand.  We'd love for her to come with, but it's ok.  She has a lot going on at the house.  Since they've been back in the country, she's decided to redo one of their bathrooms, oldest nephew's bedroom, AND put on a brand new deck.  She and her dad are doing the work (my brother is not a handyman :) ) so she's got a lot going on right now.
  • OOHOHHHH Taw...have fun.  I'm jealous. I'll probably be there on Black Friday.  Maybe.

    This weekend:

We're traveling west and going to see my Great Aunt, on her 100th birthday with huge parts of my family.  We'll be stopping at a nice shopping center and randomly shoppin.

Sunday we're travelling back and getting ready for the week. I think H has Monday off so that will be nice for him.

  • Tomorrow we're going to Cabela's in the morning to get DH clothes for his hunting trip. Then we're going to his work for a family fun day. Apparently there is a bouncy house so DS is amped up about that. Sunday we'll probably tile shop.

At least there will be good food and dancing, right?   And laughing at awkward 7th graders and being glad you aren't that age anymore.  :)

My plans involve getting ready for and throwing DD's FOURTH birthday party.   We're doing it in the gym at my mom's church so that the kids can run around.  We usually do it at my house, but the kids are getting too big.  It makes me a nervous wreck.   Anyway, we're doing a pinata at DD's special request and we're super excited about that.

It'll be nice. We're staying with good friends of ours whom we haven't seen in almost a year. But we still have to drive through NJ and hopefully have enough gas to get us all the way through.

I'm mildly irritated that the reception is on Sunday, 50 miles from where the service is.

This is what I'm saying!   Mama's been a little sad about it lately.  She's getting so grown up.
  • But 4-9 is such a fun age range! They're out of toddler azzhole-hood and before pre-teen azzhole-hood.

  • I'll go with 4 being fun. And probably 5 and 6. 8 and 9 I am not so sure about.

My weekend is all kinds of effed up. H was going to go hunting with his dad, then maybe he wasn't, then maybe he was, then MIL could maybe come watch the boys for a couple of hours, then the whole thing got called off. Then my weekend suddenly filled with stuff.

Tomorrow, I am having a work-ish lunch. Should be interesting, and at least there's gourmet pizza involved. Then I have to go to one of those "buy stuff" parties. I feel like a sellout just for going. Like, I am WAY too conflicted over this stupid, insignificant little party. Good thing I got my own xanax prescription now.

Monday is our anniversary (7 years!), so I made plans for us to do something cool Sunday night, even though we are supposed to be on a spending freeze. Oops. I will post about that separately.

  • Happy anniversary, DG!
  • AF- have a strong bat for the pinata.  6let has had one the past 2 years and adores, it but they need to beat those puppies!  We used a putter for the last one.  I can't wait to hear how it goes!

DG- what party?  I got invited to a 31 party and thought about it because I need a wallet.  I don't need a $22 fabric wallet so I declined.

    O- Yay for 100!

Nephew just turned 8 and he is the moodiest little $&#* - so really, I think 4-5-6 are the good ages.   Anything must be better than 3 though.

6 - we got the kind of pinata that you can pull the strings on if beating it doesn't work.  I don't want to give the kids anything too heavy, because it's a bunch of little boys who would like nothing more than beat the crap out of each other.  (I know them well.)
Also - 31 has some great stuff.  We have several of their very large bags that we tote stuff around in.  It's great for the pool.  (I am not a vendor).
I will only attend/participate in Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple and 31 parties - because I actually like and use their stuff.
  • I have 3 totes from 31 that I do love dearly-  the weekender, the large rectangle utility, and a thermal.  I just can't justify $22 for a wallet and I can't think of anything else I want.  I love Tastefully Simple!

  • It's DeMarie At Home - kitchen crap.

and yes, you can all start laughing until your stomach hurts now.
