Greater Hartford Location for Destination Wedding AHR

Hi everyone!

FI and I got engaged on 5/11 in St. Augustine, FL and THINK we would like a small, intimate destination wedding to that same location...  We certainly want to have an AHR (at home reception) when we return from our honeymoon...but trying to think of a place in CT where we could continue the more casual/laidback feel of a destination wedding...

We're looking for a place that would still feel like a reception - without getting too formal.  Some ideas I've come up with are the Hartford Boathouse and Pond House at Elizabeth Park.  Only drawback with the boathouse - we'd have to set up all the catering, rentals, etc...and since we'd be doing this immediately after our honeymoon, having to deal with any last minute changes/drama with the vendors may be more difficult!

Any ideas???  We're not completely tied to the Greater Hartford area, but I also have a bunch of family coming from Mass., so a shoreline location could be tough...

Oh, and we'd be looking at about 150 people...

Thank you all!  Laughing

the Pond House might be a great option!  i went to a banquet there a few weeks ago and had a great time!

have you thought of any of the CT vineyards?  Hopkins Vineyard does weddings and so does Haight Brown (where i was married).  Hopkins is a bit bigger, but also a lot more expensive, but i think either lends itself very well to a casual, laid back reception.
a friend of mine just decided on a place in Brooklyn, CT called the Golden Lamb Buttery that does everything in-house.  it's got a barn-like feel to it.

    hth, and good luck!
