What do I need to know about kids and tuxes?

Hi, guys!  My sons are 15 and 9.  I don't know a thing about renting tuxes!  They and my fiance are probably the only 3 to be in tuxes on that day.  All of the "deals" I see out there are for big wedding parties.  Do any of you have any suggestions if we're only doing 3 tuxes, and one is for a teen and one is for a children's size boy?

Thanks for the help!

  • Most places charge the same for regular and childrens sizes. Mens Warehouse typically has the best deals in my area at least. For the wedding my son was just in (age 6) we just bought a black tux from JC Penny. It wasn't identical to the mens, but close enough for us.
    Praying for a miracle!

If there is any chance you are getting your dress at Davids' Bridal, you will still get the "deal" of $40.00 off. at MW.  Actually, even if you just sign UP for DB online, you'll probably get the deal.  Mens Warehouse will start sending you coupons in the mail.

We only did 2 tuxes, and we still got $40.00 off.
  • I think that for the 9 year old, you are better off with a black suit for him.  Tuxedos are very formal evening wear for adults, and to me, they just look off on young children.  He doesn't need to match exactly, and neither does the 15 year old, for that matter, especially if they aren't part of the wedding party.
  • Well that figures!  The one that is 9 is the one trying to get the other two to wear tuxes in the first place!
