Invitation design attempts #1 and #2 - PIP

Here is what I have been working on today - learning more about photoshop and getting together a rough layout of the invitation.  I think I like the first one better, but does it seem too busy at all?  The reason I am thinking it will be okay is that our invitation layout is very simple and color-block-ish, so it kinda needs a large design centerpiece, if that makes sense.  I downloaded the font for our names, which I love - do you think the font for the rest of the wording matches okay?

As far as the graphics, they are just google images I found - not sure if I would do a stamp or just have them printed on the invite with the wording.  Thoughts on coloring of the graphic?  I think the wording will be navy blue (one of our colors), and then there will be a yellow border paper behind it, on top of the dark gray exterior of the invitation.

There are bigger pics in my bio under paper if these ones are too hard to see :)  Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

    I LOVE the second one.

The first one is really nice, too, though! Just a little too busy for me, you know?

Are your names in the font Scriptina? ;) That's the font we used for our names!

That's funny. I spent most of the day in Photoshop as well working on our invite inserts.

I like the layout of the text better on the second one, but I like the dandelion graphics better in the first one. The first one does seem a bit too busy though. Can you crop the dandelions to just single out a few of them? Like the four on the left? And then use those four with your text layout on the second one. I think your fonts match up well.

It sounds like our invites have some similarities. Ours is below. We ended up getting a custom rubber stamp made of the tree and are going to be stamping and embossing that on the invites in silver. We also got our names made into a stamp and will be embossing those in a purple that will match the cardstock backer/border/piece of paper underneath (is there a technical term for that?).

Yes!  Haha what a coincidence!  Lol or maybe not, because when I searched for free font downloads, it was on the first page that came up :)

I love your tree!!  Its so pretty how it kind of umbrellas over all the text :)  I will try cropping the dandelions - I don't really love the single dandelion either, but it was the only one I could find to put on the invite.  How are you doing the embossing?

I like the  more simplistic nature of the second one best.  But they both look great!

<div>This exactly! I don't know if I would remove many of them, just a couple. I also think embossing would be beautiful, but a warning to you that it is a huge PITA to emboss a ton of invites, especially if you're doing several dandelion stamps on each one.</div><div>
    </div><div>It looks lovely, though -- great work!</div>

Yeah, we know we've got our work cut out for us with embossing, but we only have to do about 100 invites, so I think it'll be manageable.

Jenn - We'll be heat embossing. You stamp your image on the paper with embossing ink (it's clearish, but you can see it when it's wet) and then while it's still wet you pour embossing powder over it. Next shake off the excess embossing powder and then wave your embossing heat gun over the image until the powder embosses (it's pretty obvious when it happens, the color and texture changes). You can google heat embossing and find videos on how to do it. It looks really cool when it's all said and done.
