Tipping the Catering Crew

Hello Brides to Be, Bridezillas, and Bridal parties,
We just got a quote from a caterer and they did not include gratuity. How much should we budget in to tip them? There's 1 chef, 1 manager and 6 waitstaff?
Thanks,
Deb

The standard is between 15-20% of the total bill.

18% is what most places include for gratuity. I would budget a little over 20% in case they are really good- if they aren't, you don't have to give them any extra (used to be a server... I feel for them). 15% basically says they suck, nowadays. 20% is standard in restaurants and 18% for parties.

So if my budget was  $10,000 then I tip the Caterers $2000 and let them split it up themselves or tip them each $200?

Just to clarify- my caterer is providing tables, linens etc.  Would you base the tip on the total bill or just the cost of food and service?
