Steve & Co. DJ - concern

Hi ladies!  I was planning on using Steve & Co. for my wedding, as I saw a lot of recommendations on here and my photographer also recommended them.  However, I am a little annoyed because I have been unable to get a price quote from them.  I've been calling for the last 4 days, and they will only take a message.  Unfortunately, when someone does return my call, I have been unable to answer my phone and the only message I receive is to call them back.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a little ridiculous that I can never speak with someone directly when I call.  I am concerned that this will be an issue if we book them, so I was wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

So you call them and get a voicemail...then they call you and get a voicemail?  That's called phone tag, and if they have been calling you back it's half your fault (unless they are calling you back at midnight or something). This just happens with vendors - get used to it. They have a business to run and aren't just sitting by the phone for you to call.

Maybe THEY should be concerned about YOU. Wink

Wow Angel - way harsh!  I kind of agree, but geez, you could be a little more kind about it.  Maybe some tact?

Sugar - I am using them and have had no communication issues.  The same thing happened with me when we booked them, I called, they called back, I wasn't able to answer, eventually we got in touch.  Since then I have been able to email, call the main line and get someone to add things or notes to my contract.  I met with the owner a few nights ago - no worries.

But Angel is right, if they called you back and you couldn't answer, give them a chance to call back again.

I wasn't trying for harsh. I was trying for funny. In person it would have been funny. On the interwebs dry humor isn't the same.

This is what I was hoping to hear.  I realize it's also my fault that I haven't been able to speak with someone, but I didn't want to have to play phone tag through the whole planning process.  Thanks! :)

I called them and was totally turned off the minute the lady asked me "how much are you looking to pay??"  What?????  You mean to tell me that you don't have a flat rate for weddings?  I thought that was pretty ridiculous, so I called DiNardo Brothers (Steve's brothers) and so far have been happy with them.

I got married back in 1989 when Steve was just starting his business.  His services were actually included as part of the reception hall reservation.  The purpose was for his team to fill in when our band took breaks.  We used him again for our son's christening celebration.  I was extremely pleased and would highly recommend him.  I've been widowed now for almost 15 years and are planning to wed again and will hopefully be using his services if schedules allow.

I'm sure the reason the one blogger was asked what she planned to spend is because Steve and his crew customize their services.  It's not just some typical sets he plays.  He uses props (hats, etc) for everyone to dance around in.  He often has an assistant that either motivates the crowd and gets everyone up or they play the music while he does it.  They are by far the best DJ service I've seen and I've attended a lot of company functions and weddings that fell flat because of music selection or lack of DJ personality.  And I can tell you from first hand experience, that he surrounds himself with an attractive team which gets the single girls/ladies excited to participate in another wedding reception.  ;-)

Be patient and you'll eventually connect.

I had the same problem with Steve & Co. playing phone tag, i didn't like that they had an answering service and I was always told someone will call me back, so I heard of another company called Dinardo Brothers entertainment, I called they didn't answer but left their CELL phone number to call them on if they didn't pick up.
    I booked with them.
and I heard that they were  Steve & Co and slip up a few years ago.
    Good luck

We are using Steve & Company for our wedding as well.  I also agree that it is a litle bit of a pain in the butt that you always have to leave a message and wait for a call back, but Jacki my contact is really good about calling me back right away.  Its usually only an hour or so later.  She is super nice and our DJ Jimmy is great.  Its worth dealing with for the great price and the nice staff.  I also know a few people that used them and they couldn't have been happier the day of.
