BOMA vs J.Liu vs The Loft-Smith Bros

My fiance and I really like BOMA, now Bluestone, but are finding it really expensive. Has anyone had experience having their wedding at J.Liu in Worthington or the Loft -Smith Bros. We are having difficulty setting up a tour at the Loft as Steve is out of the office  for at least another week. We are planning on visiting J. Liu this weekend. What do you girls think about those 2 venues? Or is BOMA significantly nicer and we should just try to make it work financially?

I personally LOVE J.Liu.  I like everything about it. The food is excellent, the space is very pretty (and comes with its own bar, terrace, restaurant, etc), the area is nice.  I have a friend who had her reception there and she had nothing but amazing things to say about her experience.  It was moderately priced and you get a lot of bang for the buck.  I also reached out to them and the response was fast and friendly.
I like The Loft as well, but I feel like I've been there a hundred times.  Nothing wrong with it, it's gorgeous and they do a great job I'm sure.  The price isn't bad (but they might kill you with catering, I haven't looked into it too much but a friend said its a bit pricey) and the space is neat.
The Bluestone is wildly expensive (in my opinion) and when I received a quote they nickel and dimed me for everything.  The space is awesome but I couldn't deal with the details.
    Keep us posted!

I have never been to Smith Brothers or Bluestone, but I have heard good thigns about them. I actually work at J.Liu as a server and occasionally as a banquet bartender (i.e. I bartend weddings and events). If you want to know more about it, let me know. Send me a PM.

I went to a wedding at the loft, and it was really nice!  It had an old kind of rustic feel which was really neat.  It also has a patio, but since it was a winter wedding, they obviously didn't use that.  I would definitely go take a look at it if you can!

I toured BOMA and the Loft with a friend and BOMA just didn't strike us as quite right. There was a wedding going on in a few hours (why would they schedule a tour on a day when someone else was getting married?) and one of the bridesmaids asked the coordinator to help and the coordinator blew her off because we were there...very awkward. gorgeous space and good food options but overall i got a weird vibe.

the loft was beautiful in my opinion and the bride i was with loved it! they do have fairly expensive catering but i've heard great things about the food from other people. it's also a very new space and has character so that's kinda cool.

never been to j.liu but now i want to go there for dinner. sounds great.

We are using the Loft for our April wedding. We love the look and feel of the space. Our event coordinator has been great to work with and has helped me keep the catering within our budget. Its been a good experience overall! :) If you want more details, feel free to PM me.

We are having our reception at J. Liu this June. I viewed 24 places before I went to J. Liu and I just knew after touring it that it was the place for us! The food is amazing. and I think the space is unique. It is close to hotels and there is tons of parking. It is also great for the money because there are TONS of food options and the bar prices are some of the best that I saw. Todd, the wedding manager, has been great to work with and is super friendly and funny. PM me if you want to know any more info about our plans there. Good luck!

We had our wedding at BoMA last September.  It definitely isn't cheap, but we loved the old church feel with all of the modern conveniences.  I've been to J.Liu for a party in their banquet room and although it was nice and the food was great, it didn't really do it for me.  Granted, it wasn't decorated for a wedding so that could be why, but one of the reasons we chose BoMA is because it's very unique.  You don't really need to do a lot with it since the space itself is so beautiful so that would save you money on decòr.  It looked amazing with tons of candles everywhere...it made the place really sparkle.  I'd be happy to share pictures with you or just chat about it in general if you'd like.  Just send me an email at lisajo19@hotmail.com.  Good luck!
