I am going to be a hot mess

I openly weep at other people's weddings, so I know I'm going to be full on ugly crying during most of mine.  I'm getting lash extensions so I don't have to worry about the makeup running and I'm hoping most people keep it light with their speeches.  My step-mom just told me that my Dad (who is really stoic, I can think of one time I have ever seen him cry) is having a hard time holding it together even when he practices his toast!  Man alive, that is going to kill me, I'm tearing up just thinking about it!
Just a week and a half, I can't believe it.  It's unreal!

    I completely relate.  Actually I ws just talking to a friend about this.  I cry at strangers weddings if I happen upon them in a public place. I'll be a total mess at my own. Red, splotchy, snotty face is not a good look.

    Any advice on keeping it together?

    i have no advice to give because i'm a crying mess over anything really. tv, movies, the news, books..forget it, come saturday i'll be going through kleenex like it's nobody's business!

    Your almost there girls!!!! Yay!
    I was in the same boat..... emotional disaster to say the least.  I did break down when I saw my father after getting dressed, but after that a calm came over me.  I did cry during our ceremony, but happy tears not hysteria.    You will all be fine.  All that emotional stuff becomes happiness and joy!!!   Congrats!!!

    After a meeting with the Pastor where we stood up and said part of our vows to eachother and neither of us could even speak we were so overcome with emotion, we decided to say our vows a few times before the wedding so that hopefully it won't be too messy.

    Same goes for our toast/speeches as well...

    Not sure if it'll work but here's hoping! :)

    Same here Beth.  I cry just thinking about it. And I certainly can't listen to any of the songs we have picked out for the ceremony.

    OMG ladies. I too am an emotional person. Crying at commercials or email chains or even this thread.

    I get a bright red nose when i cry. Good thing we're doing a lot of pictures before. BUT i'm worried about ugly cry faces, etc.

    This is what I would suggest.  You don't want to sound like a machine when you do your vows, but if you practice them a little it may take some of the over emotion out.  We are writting our own and I can almost make it through mine without losing it.  I'm pretty nervous about when FI does his though because I have no way to prepare for what he is going to say since it is a surprise!

    I hope this works for you!! I tried, and was sure I had it down.... and then when it came time to say our vows, I couldn't talk...  The emotion was so overwhelming and  beautiful.  I don't think there was a dry eye in the place. 

    You will get through it and it will be amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
