Help! My MUA just backed out...!!!

I booked my MUA many months ago and paid her in full, and my wedding is now 39 days away. I left her a voicemail today, and she sent me the following email response. WTH!!!

Hi,

How are you?  I received your phone call today as I was on the phone with my other July 21st bride who was informing me that her location has changed.  To make a long story short, it will interfere with me doing your wedding makeup on the same day. L

I sincerely apologize and I know this is disappointing, however, I do have a solution for you:

1.       Natasha Marcelina, who is on my makeup team, is available to do your makeup for you.  Please view her work here:  http://moniquepowers.com/natasha-m-makeup-only.html.  If this is something you are interested in, I will arrange for you to have a preview (free of charge of course) and I will refund $50 back to you; or,

2.       I can mail your [full] refund to:

 [address]

Please let me know soon what you would like to do and again I sincerely apologize.

Can you believe this??

Re: Help! My MUA just backed out...!!!

  • It is crappy that because another bride changed her wedding, she is now backing out on yours. But at least she offered some fair-sounding alternatives. The alternate MUA is something I would check into and you will also get $50 returned. The trial also is usually pricey so getting it free is really nice. Or if you have the trial and decide you don't like this MUA, you can get a full refund.

So it was crappy that she had to back out, but at least she is being reasonable with the options she's given you. I would personally check out the other MUA she suggested.

  • Thank you Summer... I really needed the voice of reason! I was soooo upset that she backed out on ME, but I will really consider that. :)
  • Were you aware of her double booking?  I'm sorry, that is just BS.  Did she book with you first or the other girl.  I find it wrong that she double booked you, but you need to move on since I would not trust her to show up at this point.  May as well go for the free trial with the other girl - who knows, you make like her work better & it will all work out for the best.  Good luck & sorry you are dealing with this now...
  • I don't think it's out of the ordinary for a MUA to have more than one booking a day.  However, I would still be frustrated, and probably pissed off, upon receiving an email like that.  Like the PP said, she has provided reasonable options though.

FWIW, I think the MUA she referred you to does fabulous work.

  • Dont try her makeup artist!!! her team is obviously unprofessional. Why would she give your date away just because another bride changed hers? doesnt sound too right... I say stay as far away from this team or anyone who works with her or is refrenced by her.

It sadens me how many times this happens, Im a professional makeup artist and have had tons of brides call me crying because their makeup artists double book, or cancel on them. They obviously dont take their job seriously.

Im sorry for what has happedned and hopefully you can find a better artist, who can treat you like the princess you deserve on your big day. Just ask for your money back and if you had a trial already ask for that money too, it obviously was a waste of your time.

Once again i am so sorry, i hope you truely find someone better.
