How many dresses did it take you?

I went shopping last nite for the 1st time. I narrowed it down to 2 dresses. 1 really showed my curves the other made me feel like a princess. I have an appt at another salon Sunday afternoon. How many dresses/salons did you have to go thru before you made your decision??

I found my dress at the first place I went to after trying on 8 dresses maybe? However I wanted to be absolutely sure so I kept appointments I had with 2 other salons because they had some designers I wanted to try that the first shop didn't carry. I ended up going back to salon one in the end to buy my dress

I went to 5 different stores. I tried on around 50-60 dresses.
My first time going I tried on a dress that I was sure would be mine, the next time I went back I tried on that exact same dress and I honestly hated it.
When I put on my dress, which was the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted and I absolutely loved it! I bought it that day, and never had a second thought about it. :)

  • I went to 5 stores spread out appointments over a 2 month period. In total I think I tried on 40 dresses but it took me a while of trying on different shapes to figure out exactly what I wanted.

I found mine at the first shop I went to; it was actually the first dress I tried on! I tried on about 10 or 12 total but nothing compared to the first dress. I ended up buying it that day... when you know, you know I guess.

I went to two different shops- one was a small, locally owned one that had the potential to order what I knew would be my dream dress, but they did not carry it in store.  I tried on probably 8 dresses there, one was a very top contender but I couldn't commit until I tried on "my dress."

I tried on about 6 dresses at the second store, saving my favorite for last; my little brother was able to come to that appointment so I wanted to make sure he felt like he got enough variety- plus I wanted to try on a bunch of the Alfred Angelo Disney dresses.  But I didn't take Cindy (Alfred Angelo 205) off once I put it on :-)

So 14ish over 2 appointments, but I knew the one I was going to end up with the whole time- I just wanted to try on lots for fun since it was the only time I'm going to be dress shopping.

  • I went to 3 stores, found mine at the 3rd one. But I tried on probably 20 dresses per place, was there for about 2 hours each appointment, so I tried on my fair share. I was getting furstrated, and finally my mom found one that was totally different from things I had been trying, and I loved it. I tried one more after that, but that was it, I didn't want to take mine off. If you feel you are stuck, I would try what i did and go in a completely different direction to see if that helps.

  • I went to 2 stores. One twice. I probably tried on over 30 dresses including the ones to figure out what style I liked. I pulled quite a few and my maids at the second store and some were not me in my opinion, but I wanted to have fun and try on ones the girls picked. The dress I fell in love with showed my figure, had the bling I wanted, and had a little poof. I didn't get a reaction I thought I would (no tears), but I felt amazing and looked hot! Haha.

I think there isn't a certain number of dresses to try on to find the one. You'll know when you're getting closer, but I don't think trying a 100 dresses is a good thing because you may not remember what you've tried on and what you haven't.
  • I went to 2 stores. The first I tried on around 10-12 and found one that was so/so. Then I found a line of dresses I loved on TK and made an appointment at a local salon that had them. When I got there they hardly had any of the line I wanted to try on and only had maybe 8 plus sized dresses in stock. So I tried 2 on there and fell in love with one. My mom and I both cried so we knew it was the one.

  • I went to one of the biggest salons in the area. I tried on about 15 dresses, and midway through, my aunt pulled one that she thought I might like. I wasn't sold on it, but as soon as I put it on, I fell in love with it. I tried on the remaining dresses that my aunts and grandmother had pulled (my mom wasn't there because I was really just going to give my aunts, who both live on the west coast and have no kids, a chance to get in on the dress action), but I kept going back to the dress my aunt pulled, and when I tried it on again, I knew I had found my dress. I did try on a variety of styles, even ones I didn't particularly care for, just so that I could definitively rule them out.
  • Probably 20. Tried 3 at one, 5 at one, and.12 at davids. Loved alot of the dresses but mine had lots of beading. Plus choice of straps or strapless.

  • I think I tried on almost 30 dresses. I actually thought I had found the one at the first place I went to. I kept my second appt and ended up finding THE dress. It was twice my budget, and that was the biggest hang up. However when my mom saw me crying in it, she offered to help me out with it. It is completely me and I feel so special in it.
