Question for Ladies Who Used the Poughkeepsie Grand for Rooms

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I had two questions that I am looking for some feedback on:

1. Have any of you had a room block at the Pok Grand and used a large party bus to transport your bridal party (or guests) from there to church, etc? We are looking into one for our very large bridal party...but I am nervous about where it can pick up...the front of the hotel doesn't seem like it could fit a 35 passenger bus. Thoughts? Input?

2. Have any of you gotten ready with hair and make-up at the Pok Grand with a large bridal party? Did you all fit in one room? Did you rent space from the hotel?

Any feedback would be great!!!! Thank you!!  :-)

    1. Yes. I had a 47 passenger bus pick up all my hotel guests and take them to the church and back.  They just parked outside, they didn't pull into the litttle parking area.

    2. Talk to your Pok Grand Person, they may be able to get you an unused conf room or one of those bridal rooms to use.

    1. We had a 21 passenger bus for the bridal party, and had no issues.

    2. I had my hair and makeup done at a salon, but we all got dressed and did some pictures in our honeymoon suite and had plenty of space.

    1. We used a 24 passenger bus and had no problems!

    2. We reserved the Roosevelt Suite to get ready in - I have pictures of it in my bio -- /> click here . It was the perfect space - it has a full bathroom, a wall that is all mirrors, tons of light, a living room area....and it was much more cost effective than getting a bridal suite for an extra night!

Oh, I should mention, we didn't pay extra for the bridal suite. They just let us check in early. We only had it for the one night. But, I think they couldn't guarantee us early check-in. We were confident enough because our wedding was on a Thursday, but if you're worried you won't be able to check in early, you might want to look into the suite Riss mentioned.

Yeah, ktwed's right - you might be able to do an early check-in depending on your situation. We were starting at 7:00am on a Saturday morning and had 2 hair stylists and a makeup artist travelling to us, and had 10 ladies getting ready. So, even if we had the early check-in, the bridal suite wouldn't have been enough room for that. It was also nice to not have our bridal suite stockpiled with all the leftover "getting ready" stuff. I forget who we worked with at the Grand, but they were very helpful!

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the Roosevelt Suite? Is it a regular suite with a bedroom also?

It's not attached to a bedroom, though it has a full bathroom. I believe it's on the 2nd floor where the other "group" meeting rooms are. I believe the rate was pretty much the same as reserving one of the suites for a night. I reserved it from 7am to 4pm.

Yea I wouldn't count on early check-in if you're set on having extra space. We thought we would be able to check in to the honeymoon suite the morning of...but the previous couple was still in there, which is understandable....we just made it work in our rooms
