Any Modern Pastry reviews?

We are getting married at G. Fox and our cake comes with the venue through Modern Pastry. Our cake tasting is next week and I'm wondering if I should plan on checking out other places in case we don't like what they have to offer.

Any suggestions?

    I've heard nothing but good things about Modern, and it's actually where we're getting our cake too (through our venue, A Villa Louisa.) The recommendation to us was to make sure you go on a day where they are doing samples. The only other bakery in Hartford that's on par with them as far as quality / reviews is Mazzicato's, and I've heard they are complete jerks to brides or anyone wanting custom orders.  Tell us how it goes next week :)

    I LOVE modern pastry I have very fond memories of them and their canollis! My italian family refuses to go anywhere but modern pastry or mozzicatos (which is across the street).  I have also had wedding cakes from them and they are very pretty. I wish i was getting my cake there but we get a free one from our package at the venue and they use a bakery in bloomfield. But honestly I didnt think to much of it because cake is cake and we arnt doing any fancy types of cakes that some people do.

    I will say I prefer mozzicatos though but have nothing bad to say about modern it's just a personal preference.

    Modern pastry is amazing! We go to them all the time for our cakes and pastries. My family's restaurant uses them all the time for when a customer needs a cake for a special occasion. Everyone there is so nice and the cakes they make are beautiful!

    Ask them what day they do samples :)  That's what our venue told us to do when we call.

    I had my wedding at G. Fox. Our cake came from Modern and it was delicious! We went on a Saturday morning for our tasting. We had some coffee and tasted flavors. They were soooo good!
