DOC help

Hello everyone!  I'm toying with idea of hiring a Day of Coordinator for the wedding.  My mother has volunteered to do all the coordination the day of the wedding but I really want my mom to be with me and enjoy the day of my wedding.

I was wondering if you've used a DOC...who would you recommend and roughly how much did it cost?

Thanks!

Whitney

Where are you getting married?  Is the manager of the venue not doing anything?  They should be able to run things and make the day transition smoothly.

If not, get a detailed list of everything, the order and the times, that you want things to happen and give that to the DJ, the venue manager, the florist, the pastor.  That way everyone will be on the same page of when and where everything is suppose to be.

I'm getting married at Arrowhead Golf Course.  We booked the venue in May and I haven't really heard much from them so I'm not sure how smoothly it will run.  I've just heard of a lot of people getting a DOC, so I'm seeing if it's worth it.

I would talk to the venue manager first and ask him what his/her role is the day of, before spending a lot of money on a DOC.   Yes they don't seem to interested in your wedding at the time because they have a ton of other events before yours.  Try and gather a list of questions together and then email them your concerns.  They are there to help you feel comfortable.  Keep those lines of communication open, but don't over burden them.  Your time will come!  We had a "final details meeting" a month before our wedding.  And they seemed to have everything together and they knew what works and what doesn't.  They will help you with the timeline as the day approches.

As for a DOC, Yes they are nice to have, but try to get detailed as possible with your timeline.  Start now trying to come up with one.  Then as the day gets closer and closer, add more details. Think though the day, and what will happen, and write it down. Also, Clearly communicating with your vendors will help.  The more clear you are, the more understanding your vendors will be.

having a close friend or an aunt would be more than willing to help out in some way.  By the time the day comes, you won't care anymore about the details and will just want to party and be with your guests.  Try and get as much done the week before the wedding and you will be just fine!  It's hard to imagine, but everything will come together smothly and beautifuly!

    Good luck!

I just used some friends that had recently been married.  I didn't pay them, but got them gift cards as a thank you.  They knew the drill and I gave them to do lists.  They coordinated with our venue captain.  Basically, they set up table names, escort cards, programs, unity sand, etc.  And directed guests where they needed to go.  I did NOTHING the day of b/c I was organized ahead of time.

Defintely check w/ your venue to see what they offer, how they organize vendors and if they have any suggestions.
